I've never heard of d20 Modern. Sounds interesting, from what I skimmed on Wikipedia. Though totally advocating for going against your parents wishes, I'm glad you found inspiration through that, and thus discovered the path into writing's grip. The English language needs as many people passionate about it as it can get.
