Here's my own character. I might tweak the wording or some such, but for the most part he's done and ready to save some lives!

[color=D5D8DC][indent]A lime-green humanoid of the Nautolan species, Cas stands at roughly six foot, more or less the average for his kind. His eyes, despite being large and pitch black, have a certain warmth to them when his gaze is met. Indeed, he carries something of a friendly demeanour, with the corner of his mouth usually curled upwards ever-so-slightly creating the impression of a welcoming individual.

His most eye-catching feature is undoubtedly the head-tails that fall to roughly below his shoulder. Usually most of these head-tails are kept neatly behind his back, with one or two draped down his torso. These play a crucial role in Nautolan biology, allowing for members of the species to sense the emotional state of another being through pheromone changes and this ability has become a central part of the communication process in Nautolan culture. The tendrils are most effective underwater, but have adapted for use on land nonetheless.

While not particularly brawny, Cas has a well-toned figure and keeps in good shape. Across his body are several circular  markings of a slightly darker green, with each Nautolan having a unique pattern across their body. Usually, Cas can be found wearing tight, practical and utilitarian clothing that, while may not be much of a fashion statement, promises not to prove a nuisance in the field.[/indent][/color]

[b]Medical Doctor:[/b] Having been involved in the medical profession since the the age of fifteen (the age of maturity among the Nautolan species), Cas has been treating wounds and illnesses for the great majority of his life. During his time on Glee Anselm, he was often placed in the operating theater as part of a surgical team. Following on from this, however, his work in the Army of the Republic fulfilled a substantially different role. This wide variety of training and experience has allowed for Cas to develop as a truly skilled Medical Doctor, with a strong knowledge of the fundamentals in his field.[/indent][/color]
[color=D5D8DC][indent][b]First Aid Specialist:[/b] While serving in the Army of the Republic, Cas was assigned the role of 'First Aid Specialist'. In preparation for serving as medical officer within the ranks of the Army of the Republic, Cas was sent to the 'First Republic Medical Academy of Coruscant.' Here, he underwent a three-year introductory course on the basic biology and treatment options for a great many of the various species found across Republic space. When actively serving, Cas specialised in giving immediate, life-saving treatment to the wounded on the front lines.[/indent][/color]
[color=D5D8DC][indent][b]Gunslinger (Blaster Pistols):[/b] As a requisite for serving, Cas undertook small-arms training with blaster pistols. He is trained in their use and can hold his own against lesser opponents, though is by no means an expert.[/indent][/color]
[color=D5D8DC][indent][b]Biology:[/b] As a Nautolan Cas has a particularly tough body, a result of the dense cartilage and strong bones that is common to all his kin. Additionally, the Nautolan species initially survived and formed a civilisation underwater before expanding onto land. Because of this, all Nautolans have the ability to breathe underwater with ease. Cas also possesses an exceptional sense of smell that only becomes more effective when underwater, this being another racial perk.[/indent][/color]

Born in the year 3990BBY on the mid-rim planet of Glee Anselm, homeworld of the Nautolan species, to two dedicated parents, Cas had something of a pleasant upbringing. His father, Oric Eelen, was an elected elder for the city of Pieralos, the Nautolan capital of Glee Anselm, which allowed for certain creature comforts. Like all Nautolan children, his early life was spent underwater as his limbs developed to become strong enough to support their bodies on land. His parents soon came to learn that, despite his young age, he was going to be a handful. Swimming beyond the accepted boundaries and depths, the young Cas had a thirst for exploring what was unknown to him. Undoubtedly, when his first day on land finally came and allowed him to experience what must have seemed to be almost another world entirely, his adventurous young mind was filled with inspiration for the future.

It was not until Cas was ten years old, the equivalent of being aged eighteen in human society, that he decided upon the path his life was to take. Enrolling in the Pieralos Medical Academy in 3980BBY. Throughout his four years at the academy, Cas learned the basics of galactic medicine and treatments before electing to specialise and train in the Nautolan College of Surgeons, which extended his academic career by another two years. Indeed, at the College he learned primarily Nautolan biology, but was also required to learn the biology of the major ‘tourist species’, with Glee Anselm being a current member of the Republic. The skills taught to Cas during these six years would remain with him for the rest of his life, and while he had always intended to remain on Glee Anselm, emerging galactic events would soon change his fate forever.

In the year 3972BBY, the Mandalorian crisis was growing steadily as news spread throughout the galaxy of the planetary raids and naval skirmishes beyond Republic space. Under Mandalore the Ultimate, who envisioned a future where warriors the ruled and were supported by the farmers and artisans, the Mandalorian ranks gradually swelled and became more disciplined, resulting in a dangerous fighting force of Mandalorian ‘Neo-Crusaders’. Indeed, tension gradually built as the Mandalorians continued to conquer words of the Outer Rim, expanding their territories dramatically. The Republic, however, did not intervene to prevent these acts of aggression initially, and the Mandalorian forces continued unopposed for some time despite the calls for action from some in the Republic.

Tensions between the Mandalorians and the Republic reached their peak toward the end of the year 3965BBY when the Republic finally acted to protect its interests on the planet of Taris, naming it a member-planet of the Republic. Forming a defensive naval line to fend off the Mandalorian assault, and with light skirmishes, the galaxy entered a period of roughly eight-or-so months, with the prospect of war looming over each day.

It was during this period that Cas volunteered, against the better advice of his parents. It was likely a mixture of influences that inspired the young Nautolan to serve with the forces of the Republic. Perhaps his deep-rooted desire for adventure from childhood and his disliking of everyday repetition and monotony, or his genuine desire to use his training and skill to help those who needed it most also likely played a role in convincing Cas to volunteer. After indicating his desire to join the Army of the Republic at a local information office, he was advised that he would spend a year training to transfer his medical abilities onto the field as well as learning other important skills needed to serve on the frontlines.

Being sent to the First Republic Medical Academy of Coruscant in the year 3964BBY, Cas underwent a year-long period of specialised training to become a medical officer on the frontlines, and he elected not to serve in the operating theatres, but instead to serve as a specialist providing life-saving treatment on the frontlines. As a part of his training, Cas was taught the basic do’s and dont’s of blaster use so that he may protect himself, should the need arise, though he found that he was only average at best in his skill with a blaster.

Cas was eventually sent to join the Republic forces protecting Taris in 3963BBY, and began active duty not long before the planet of Taris was doomed to fall to Mandalorian forces. Immediately after, the period that has since become known as ‘The Onslaught’ began. The Mandalorian forces continued their invasion through Republic space, conquering numerous worlds as the Republic Army was beaten back further and further, the Jedi Council refusing to allow Jedi support at the same time. Some of the fiercest fighting in this period took place on the Zabrak homeworld, and Ord Mantell, conflicts Cas was involved in heavily. Throughout these battlezones, Cas found himself acting as medical support for more than just his colleagues, but for the civilians of the planets also, with the Mandalorians showing no mercy.

It was a devastating conflict that shook the Republic to the core, and it even looked as though the planet of Alderaan may fall to the Mandalorian advance. Fortunes changed for the Republic, however, when the Jedi faction of 'Revanchists' defied their orders from the Jedi High Council to join the defence of the Republic. This marked a turning point in the war as the Jedi took control of the Republic Navy and Army, leading the counter-attacks and repulsing the Mandalorian armies from Republic space. The fight, while just as brutal, was finally being taken to the Mandalorians as the Republic moved to go on an offensive campaign of its own.

This intervention by Jedi forces would secure a victory for the Republic in the Mandalorian wars, and the Jedi became heroes to not only the men they lead, but for the entire Republic. 

Peace was not to last, however. Seemingly corrupted by the war they had won, the Jedi Revanchists fell from the light side of the force to become the leaders of a new, resurgent Sith Empire. The [i]Jedi Civil War[/i] began as the Jedi High Council led the fight against the new enemy to the Republic. This war, once more, brought devastation and suffering to a galaxy only at the very beginning of a period of recovery from the Mandalorian Wars.

After the conclusion of this conflict and another victory for the Republic, and now a veteran of war, Cas was allowed to leave his military service. Boarding the first transport available to him, Cas joined thousands of other veteran soldiers and refugees headed to the moon of Nar Shaddaa, where they would then seek transport to whatever planet they so desired.

Shortly after his arrival, however, the Exchange locked down the refugee sector and Cas found not only trapped, but in the midst of another brewing conflict. Doing his best to aid the refugees around him who needed medical assistance, Cas made something as a name for himself as the 'skilled Nautolan doctor'. Becoming known to the Exchange, he was offered an opportunity to leave the Refugee Sector, and thus gain access to the space ports of Nar Shaddaa. Wary of working for the Exchange, Cas reluctantly took the offer presented to him by the Exchange Agent Mol, seeing no other option.

Just another small mention for posting activity now that we're about to get things moving, I want this to be an endeavour we can take at our own speed. Post when you can and be considerate towards others in the group who may want to bring things forward and not get stuck waiting for too long, and I think we'll be grand!
