The bottoms however are cut short right at the ankle. Kaiyō prefers to not wear any shoes but will do so according to conditions. The large size of his shihakusho even though trimmed at his feet, offer more fabric, giving his motions an ebb and flow pattern. He has short lengthed hair spiked all around, his eyes are a squarish shape with gentle appearance. Background: Kaiyo grew up in the 57th of the western district, a place where hollow attacks weren't too frequent but enough to make one uneasy over night. He was very observant and open minded, allowing him to learn and understand on another level compared to those around him. Hearing stories of soul reapers as a kid intrigued Kaiyo, he kept asking the elders around him, each of them sharing new information everyday. He admired their passions and achievements, what the court guards were capable of, he strive to be one. Zanpakutō: Derikashīuni (Delicacy Sea urchin, デリカシーウニ) Appearing as a young girl with white eyes and light-purple hair down to her knees. She wears a long deep-blue dress, the bottom is patterned with a swarm of black sea urchins. A star with many uneven points sits in the center of a low cut collar. The world is surrounded by large and bright coral reefs, and forests of kelp. Even though underwater Kaiyo has no trouble breathing. The sea is filled with living creatures and plant life. Derikashiuni often hides herself among a large herd of sea urchins, varying different species, she takes such an appearance until wanting to be seen, emerging from the swarm. Zanpakutō Appearance (Sealed): Standard katana with a light-purple binding, secured by silver cap bearing a star with many uneven points. Hilt guard is silver as well, with a circle shape, patterned with urchin spines leaving from the center (blade) pointed outwards to the edge in uneven lengths. Sheathe consists of a gradient pattern starting with a deep-blue at bottom to a light-purple towards the hilt. The blade maintains a constant coat of water, a drop resting at the end of each barb. Allowing the user to throw blades of water, the water contains a venom with the effect of restricting respiratory functions. Bankai Trial: Kaiyo will be challenged with having to go through a swarm of urchins to reach and comfort Derikashiuni, proving she can trust him. At first she's just nervous, but each attempt he tries to approach her, he breaks the urchins spines, resulting in Deri becoming scared and sad, even crying. Kaiyo has to push through the massive swarm without breaking a single spine on any urchin, if stung he has to pull away without breaking the spine, possibly being injected with their venom. Derikashiuni wants to recognize Kaiyo as someone who is gentle enough to use bankai, simply because her bankai is extremely fragile, as is any urchin. Bankai: Kaiyo’s sword in Bankai takes on the form and appearance of a spine from the Bankai’s current form. Bankai is released with Yūdokuna yōsai (Toxic Fortress ; 有毒な要塞) Kaiyo gently shakes his sword to make a single drop of water fall from the tip of his blade, summoning a large purple-blue sea urchin. It’s shell size is approximately 5 meters in diameter, with thousands of spines varying of different sizes averaging the radius of the shell. Each spine is capable of throwing a blade of water. If the spine is trimmed or broken it can grow back, naturally. However if the spine is ripped from its socket on the shell, the spine can not grow back. Kuroi hana (Black Blossom ; 黒い花) is the second form of bankai. The abilities stay much the same but the urchin changes in appearance, the spines triple in length while the shell shrinks to half its size. The spines become more fragile but are completely barbed. The color changes to a pure black. With spines much longer they are capable of releasing much larger blades of water. Kui korosu (To Eat and Kill ; 食い殺す) Is an ability that can be done by either form of the Bankai. The sea urchin sends hundreds of its suction feet to hunt for it’s prey, grabbing it’s target and dragging them towards the powerful five pronged beak that lies beneath the shell of the urchin.
