Hard-nosed, good-natured; he could be called the equivocal Mean Gene of Global Pro Wrestling – or at least one of the more easily recognizable backstage interviewers. From his appearance, he was in his early-forties. He was short, shaven, with a short brown hair with a receding hairline. Naturally, he was well-dressed, as should be expected of any backstage interviewer; it was a well-made three-piece suit. Wayne took a single from the mug of his coffee, as Wayne rose his eyes towards the camera; the camera man suddenly began to count down. Wayne quickly placed down the mug, and adjusted both his tie and posture— “Showtime, in three—“ “Two—“ “One.” Eighties new wave production music played on queue with the equally punctual cameraman, “The Pain” held an old fashion microphone in his hand. The Backstage Interviewer spoke with his signature, velveteen voice— “Ladies and Gentlemen, good evening! My name is none other than Wayne “The Pain” Brown, and what a match we just witnessed! Davies vs. Eagle, will no doubt be a match to be remembered. Both competitors placed up a hell of a fight – but Davies takes the win. He will go one-to-one to face the reigning GPW American Champion, Dr. Lazarus Lazarus, later tonight – for none other than the championship.” Wayne adjusted his tie, coughing once to clear his throat- “Now – it is with great pleasure, to introduce to all of you, the GPW American Champion – Dr. Lazarus Monroe!” The Doctorate, The GPW American Heavyweight Champion – Lazarus Monroe – nearly interrupted the veteran backstage interviewer, Wayne, as the Surgeon of Professional Wrestling spoke with a loud and proud tone of voice, animate, and lively as ever— “Oh – It’s great to be here. Great to be here, once again, in Long Island… New York. It’s great to be here, once again, in the Nassau… Colosseum- “THE PAIN”— HOW ARE YOU DOING, SIR!?” The well-kept, tamer backstage interviewer promptly and professional responded— “Well, I’m doing just fine, Doc’! Thanks for asking! I wanted to get your opinion on what just happened out there. I wanted to get your take on how you’ll face Rocky Davies later tonight, with your Global Pro Wrestling American Championship belt on the line! I know that belt means to you, to represent this sport-” The Champion didn’t even need to ponder, he already knew what to say, as he interrupted the interviewer- “You know something, Pain. I don’t really like Chad Eagle. I don’t like his attitude. You’re not entitled to anything in this life, but he still believes himself to be the best in GPW. But, I respect him. I respect any man that has the guts to step between those ropes, look another man in the eye – and tell them – that I’ll tie you into knots, and furthermore, beat the piss out of you if I have to; I respect that man!” He paused— “But, I also respect another man, and I can’t think of a single name I respect more than who I’m about to name. That man, was your winner. That man, has the guts of a bull. That, was Rocky Davies. He pulled through with the win, Pain. He’s got the guts. He’s got the heart. HE’S GOT THE DETERMINATION! But, I’ll tell you what he doesn’t have, Pain, and that’s my wrestling ability, BABY!” The Doctorate chuckled mildly like a madman, he lets the air sizzle for a moment, before speaking a bit more coldly— “You see, Davies – although I respect you – you ‘ought to respect that, I, am just the better wrestler. And, you… WILL RESPECT THAT, after I make, you, TAP, with Open Heart Surgery, BABY! And, unlike some folks, I’ll do it all within the rules, because that’s what the doctor’s all about! I am the surgeon, at what I do – and that’s tying people into knots! I will bend your bones in ways you never thought imaginable! I am the master of this game – and you will hear the fans in this arena chant my name – LAZZZ’ARUS! MONROEEE’!” The Doctor struts off, as Wayne “The Pain” Brown frantically wipes his forehead with a readily-handy handkerchief. He raises his frontal view back up to the lens of the camera— “Well, Folks. The man said it himself. The Surgeon of Professional Wrestling, Dr. Lazarus Monroe, will defend his GPW American Championship against none other than the tenacious, the unyielding, the undeterrable: Rocky Davies. Let’s take it back to the ring—” The camera feed cuts back to the center of the ring. The former interviewing platform combusts into a crowd, as personnel shuffle equipment in and out of the scene. Wayne "The Pain" Brown took another sip of his coffee mug that he had placed down earlier, sighing, as he heads on his way further backstage. All the while, Saturday Night Showdown rolls on.
