I was under the assumption this rp would start us off as already inside the hive? with the fighting already starting

The grav chutes would be an admitted necessity if we were starting the rp with a combat jump. But my main point with those is after the jump is complete it's battery only lasts for an hour and it's just deadweight. it is like a parachute. Once you land, you have little further need for it other than to hand it back in and wait for the next drop. 

Jumping into a hive seems highly suicidal with all the defence turrets and pointy spires and random building corners and ledges. Unless we were dropping outside the city and moving in. 

And yes I know how a machine gun can be carried. its just a colossal pain in the ****. I also need to requisition a bipod as soon as I can.
