Her eyes hadn't left the pot the whole time, so she hadn't noticed him glancing back at her. Once he'd filled it, she heeded his instructions and took over stirring the rice by hand. It was a strange scenario to her; getting her hands dirty preparing food. She had assumed it was all done with utensils. Now she understood a little more why her cooks were proud of even the most basic of dishes they make. Once the water was white once again, she drained it off and filled it one last time, getting to work once again on stirring the rice. She was too preoccupied with cooking to notice the rest of the class, so didn't see that Fumika was alone, and filtered out the conversations anyone else in the class but Jett was having. She drained the rice for the final time with the stopper, then added four cups of clean water, and put the pot onto the heating element, turning the heat high as she'd been instructed. As if on cue, Jett arrived with a tray of ingredients at that moment. It looked like an interesting selection. Mina was familiar with everything there, but was trying to imagine how they would be applied to rice except on a plate, and was failing. "If this is simple, it's a very good job we're not doing something harder," she muttered curtly. Her blush had gone, at least. She looked more like her usual self. "I'm very glad I took this class. I would be woefully unprepared for adult life without knowing how to cook for myself." [@Aerandir]
