However, he lost the exterior of his left ear in the late 1960’s, and has had to learn to adjust to a near total lack of hearing on that side. He, additionally, suffered horrible burns on his left leg courtesy of a witch in the ‘70’s, and has since walked with a cane: though he can still move pretty well without it if he needs to. the leg’s quite sensitive though. He also concealed carries a Sig Sauer P220 handgun.

Full Name: Victorien Arsène Brookes-Deveraux Alias: Abraham Roux, Rhys Tanner Age: 67 Gender: Male Occupation: Bookstore owner (semi-retired) Current Location: Lafayette, LA, USA Height/Build: 5’10”, 150lbs - Thin, wiry, but strong. Personality: cautious / / protective / / intelligent / / wise / / understanding / / paranoid Bio: Born on April 13, 1950 to Madeleine Katia Deveraux and Harvey Frank Brookes, Vic lived the first 10 years or so of his life with a mostly absent mother, as Madeleine was dealing with a long-term Vampire intrigue in Denmark with the Deveraux family. He learned mostly from his father the basics of Hunter life, something he only learned after marrying Madeleine – and it certainly said something about his love for her that he not only stayed, but decided to become her record keeper. When Madeleine was finally able to return, she gave a more in-depth training on the academic world of Hunting, while beginning to train him in shooting and hand-to-hand fighting as he got older. At age 18, he was sent to France to work more closely with the Deveraux. Overall, his experiences with them were quite positive, and he learned even more – including the myth of the six – during his time with the French family. There were two experiences of major note for him during his training (1968-78), both of which lead to his two deformities. his first ever true hunt was in 1969, when a vampire coven was stirring up some major shit outside Avignon. Things... did not go as planned. They had heard about the attack, and had cleared their caves before the group firebombed the coven, ambushing the group as they sifted through the ashes. Of the 7 who were sent, 3 were killed, and 1 lost an arm. All things considered, Vic was lucky that he only lost his ear before he was able to get a point blank crossbow shot off on the vampire trying to tear him apart. In 1975, he was sent with a friend to deal with a pyromaniac witch, on request of the local counsel. They were supposed to bring her back alive, but it really seemed like it wasn’t going to go that way after she started chucking fireballs at them while cackling madly on her roof about a conspiracy against her. His partner eventually got upstairs and slit her throat while Vic kept her busy with gunfire, but she still managed to score a hit just to his left that caught that pantleg on fire – and he was forced to sustain fore for another half minute to protect his partner before dealing with the leg. The fact that he could even still walk on it was nothing short of a miracle. While in the hospital, he ended up falling hard for one of his nurses. This wasn’t Zoe, I just thought you should know that. He met Zoe at a Dinner party the Deveraux held, and they hit off from there. He lived with her in England for a year before they could marry and get her over to the states. She was already aware of the Hunters – they had saved her grand-uncle from some witches at some point – which made things go more smoothly when he went off to go stalk a vampire in bayou for a half year - no contacts with the outside world – and other such adventures. Most of what came next was just expanding his secret library/collection, training his son, and making connections in the Hunter world. He’s content with the knowledge that he has saved countless people from the dangers of the supernatural world, and has been continuously amazed by the technological advancements made in his lifetime. His phone is very cool. He can access maps on it! Vic’s connections within local catholic church groups is especially deep, despite the hunters no longer associating with the church, and he has become well known in the area for donating large sums, lobbying congress, and volunteering his time at the churches, and is a constant donor to the Catholic Relief Services – almost joining the board of directors before realizing it would probably interfere with his work. His mother’s lineage goes direct to the outer Deveraux family (not quite inner circle), her parents moving to the states in 1919 after getting caught up in legal troubles. His father’s history was pre-colonial, his family making their fortune in trade up and down the river, before his grandfather built the bookstore that they currently own, for reasons that are mostly unclear, back in 1894. They still hold some good stocks in some river shipping companies, so he more or less makes more money without even trying at this point. Other/Extra: Proficiencies/abilities: -Expert Forger: Vic is well known in hunter circles as the man who can and will forge whatever documents you need, When it comes to passports, identification cards, and other official documents, Vic has the equipment, know-how, and contacts to get you one – you just need the money. -Tri-Lingual: Capable of speaking French, English, and Spanish. -Bibliophile: Vic knows a lot about history, politics, current events, and that which pertains to hunting. He is aware of the myth of the six (seeing them as demons, and knowing that they and the guardians have weapons that could kill original vampires), knows the laws of the witches, knows the weaknesses of normal vampires, and is aware of the origins of the hunters (a lot of modern hunter mythology is not kind to its founder, and sees it as their duty to atone for his mistakes with their endless protection of society). -eagle eye: Vic rarely misses with his rifle. Important Possessions: -iPhone 3 -1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS350: Grey with Green stripe. - The Brooks household: Integrated into his bookstore, this house holds a number of things that would surprise the casual visitor - Underground bunker: the stairs down to the basement lead to a heavy steel locked door – a nuclear bunker left over from the cold war era. If you have the passcode, you enter another, more high tech room, which takes a thumbprint, another passcode, and a voice recognition test. If you pass that, you gain access to Vic’s base – an expansion of that designed by his mother. It holds: - A number of machines, dyes, and other forging materials -many books – often hand-written – describing and cataloging different vampires, witches, and other evils in the area. Also has some rudimentary information on possible guardian base locations -a desktop computer, protected by a rotating password, with all important data stored on multiple external hard-drives: this is mostly used for additional research, and to copy over the old books to a digital format. -a number of specimens of vampires, including a brain and a heart, kept preserved in jars. -canned foods: enough for a month. Kept well away from the vampire innards. -multiple very comfortable chairs -hunter’s gear and equipment: -crossbow: wooden and normal bolts accompany -a number of modern hunting rifles -hatchet -There is also a Winchester Model 1894 rifle hanging behind the checkout stand. It looks entirely normal amongst many other old mementos and books, but is always kept clean and loaded, for the protection of whatever family member is running the register. The bookstore and house is otherwise what you’d expect from an eclectic old man who runs a bookstore. Lots of nooks and crannies, 2 relatively friendly cats, and a lot of good books. Contacts: Deveraux family – His mother’s side are Deveraux, and it is from her that he gained many of the contacts and skills he still has to this day. While not in constant contact with them, he is well known and relatively well respected by the family, though his attitude towards the guardians causes some friction. American Government Insider: “Paul” is a man who can get “Abraham” (the name by which he knows Vic) what he needs, on the occasion that Vic does not have all the information or material he needs to forge something. Wellesley family – Vic often butts heads with them on the treatment of witches, but they otherwise co-ordinate relatively well, and he has worked with them on multiple occasions in the past. Knows a few local non-threatening witches, useful for pointing him in the direction of the local tribunal, and who occasionally have come to him about out of control witches or vampires Korikov Family – He’s about as open to the idea of working with someone trained by them as he is to working with a Guardian. Phillip Abel Brookes-Deveraux – Vic and Zoe’s son, currently working in France with the Deveraux family. Slight rift between him and Vic as to how to treat guardians, but Vic trusts that it won’t cause permanent harm. (31 years old / / 5’7 / / better at acting then thinking) Zoe Elain Brookes-Deveraux (formerly Fox) – Vic’s wife: overall supportive of his hunter lifestyle, and knows enough to at least identify a vampire and kill one, but mostly just stays out of the way of that whole deal, choosing to manage the store instead. (64 years old / / 5’4” / / very nearsighted) Likes: reading / / cats / / car travel / / researching possible foes / / making connections / / coffee Dislikes/fears: air travel / / unnecessary surprises / / fire
