All of it was a surprise, the violence, the creation of O.M.E.N, all of it was far more than he expected to be happening in three years. Certainly the most surprising, and disconcerting, was the discovery of the fact that he was dead. Well, not him technically, at least, not this Darren, but in three years when the same events came around, he would be. He had always considered the fact that in his line of work, death was highly likely, and if he was dying protecting people from the supernatural, it'd at least be worthwhile. However, it still felt strange to come to terms with that reality, he felt less stunned, terrified, or even concerned with it, as he just felt... Nothing. Lost in his thoughts for a few moments, Darren completely missed Folly's comment, only being snatched back to reality when he heard Andromeda suddenly shout. Looking up toward her, he raised an eyebrow, glancing about between each of the individuals there again, eyes lingering for a moment or two on Seraphina before he saw Andromeda collapse. Hurrying over to the woman, he gave a curious look over her body along with Seraphina, forcing the fact he was dead to the back of his mind for the moment as he glanced to the barrier when Seraphina mentioned its reaction to light. Standing up, he moved over toward the barrier then, he had wanted to do something to help Andromeda, but he didn't frankly have a clear idea of what was wrong with her, in his mind the best way to help anyone there, was to work on getting the barrier down. Darren didn't have much in the way of making light, but he did have a flashlight on him at least. Reaching into his jacket and pulling out the light, he flicked it on and waved it over the barrier, waiting to see what sort of reaction Seraphina had been talking about. He would look her up later, but he figured she'd given more than enough explanation there. He was caught off guard when Olivia stated she was a werewolf, however. He gave her a very odd look for a few moments, having to force the thought to the back of his mind as both Olivia and Aloise diverted the conversation back toward the barrier, and the individuals trapped inside it as he nodded. "Right, well... I'm not exactly an expert on magic barriers, I figured that'd probably be your department, but let's see what we can do..." Moving back over and squinting in the darkness, James kneeled down to look closely at the base of the barrier, unable to see much in the dark however, and beginning to regret the fact he'd not brought a flashlight. Fishing about in his jacket, he brought out his lighter, flicking it open and letting the flame ignite as he held it close enough to the ground to give him a clear look at the base of it, curious as to whether or not there was any break in the barrier, or if it seemed to impact the ground at all.
