She supposed that polearms don't stop being staffs just because they had some fancy cap at the end of them. Mamoru certainly intended to use hers as a giant club should any unfortunate opponent bypass the business end. "A shield and staff style would be good for defensive fighting. You'll have the reach of a staff without sacrificing much of your defense." Indeed, Mamoru was going to give that style a try in the training room. As for Reina's comment about the nose jabbing, Mamoru smiled and shrugged her shoulders. "I know it sounds silly, but it's a legit technique. Your nose isn't exactly as hard as say, your forehead, and I don't know many guys who'd still want to fight when you rip their nostril open. It's brutal but it ends fights." Reina explained how her quirk worked more, namely that while swinging things up and down would be easier with her quirk, moving it to the side would be tougher. That would be an issue if Reina wanted to really learn how to use a shield. ”Shield’s aren’t hammers, so unless you have a big one doing a more smashing motion, probably wouldn’t happen that often. Even then you’re better off crushing their feet than bopping them in the face with an overhead smack. You really should get maybe a more medium shield, since a shield is fairly useless if you can’t move it to protect yourself.” Mamoru suspected that her own shield could, one day, become bigger or smaller to suit her needs so she actually has tried to practice with different sizes. While she still likes her medium shield for balance she has also taken a liking to tower shields for their ability to produce a lot of power over a very small space of movement. Yoshiro mentioned the need to change up your fighting style to not always need your quirk, which Mamoru could agree with. All the more reason she was testing out a variety of weapons and equipment to see what works for her. Tonfas felt fairly comfortable to Mamoru, like a lighter, more offensive shield. She could also use it like a club or even an axe, striking with all her force concentrated on the perpendicular handle rather than just the shaft. Putting said tonfa away Mamoru also took her shield back from Reina, holding it in her hands. ”Ah yes, the constant battle between specialization and versatility. What did that one old martial artist once say, better to be able to do one kick a thousand times than a thousand different kicks? Something like that. He should learn some punches too, and many a throw or two.” That’s when Reina, offer Yoshiro offered to teach her how to use her weapons, backed away and mentioned that she’d figure something out herself. Mamoru pouted and took a step towards Reina. ”Reirei, everyone is here to learn. Even if you’re a old master like Yoshi-kun here, or a complete novice like us, we can always learn from each other. And if you’re more the type who’d rather learn through fighting than through lesson, great! I was actually about to head to the training room to set up a combat simulation against a bunch of gun-toting robots.” Putting her weapons down and dismissing her shield Mamoru went up to Reina and held her hand, just to make sure the shyer girl didn’t try to run or say anything depreciating about herself. ”Silliness aside being a hero isn’t about fighting, it’s about helping people. Especially each other. I’ll admit, Yoshiro-kun is likely a way better fighter than I am. So learn from him, like I will. Just as well if you want to learn how to use a shield let me show you what I can do. It may be all that I have, but you can do so much more with it. And I’d like nothing more than to see you become a great hero.” Shortly after her little speech Kenichi came in asking if anyone knew martial arts. Mamoru smiled and pointed at herself. ”Not me! I only know how to fight by fighting. You know how to throw a punch and take a hit, so that covers the basics. Anything in particular you wanted to know? Probably something about disarming bad guys, yeah?” Not that Mamoru was particularly skilled at disarming enemies either, but again that’s why she was going to go into the training room and pit herself against waves and waves of robots with her variety of weapons, most intended to entrap and disarm, instead of just a giant club she club crush them all with. And the only reason she hasn’t done that yet is because she hasn’t found a giant club. "That makes one of us at least." He said in a lighthearted manner. Speaking of boiled water it looked like his eggs were done and it was time to flip the rice. A few minutes later the rice would be ready to make onigiri with. "Careful, they're still hot." Donny said as he felt the steam coming off the rice. Going over to his quail eggs Donny poured out the scalding hot water before filling the pot with cold water, to help cool his hands as he peeled the shells of the eggs. He worked quite fast and precise, removing the eggshells in about a minute. The eggs were still warm by the time he was done peeling them, even after putting them into cold water. When it came time to actually make the onigiri Donny washed his hands and filled up another small bowl with water and sea salt. He covered his hands with a light layer of water so that the rice didn't stick to his hands before he set out to work. This was when Donny truly began to shine. In the time it took Hakura to make one onigiri, Donny had made two; one with his tuna mix and another with a quail egg. Donny was moving so fast he was practically juggling between laying out the rice, placing the filling, shaping it into a nice rectangular pyramid, and then decorating with nori. But he didn't just put a single strip, oh no. Donny went all out. His face grew hard as he scowled through the rice and filling, as if he was doing surgery. He simply became a flurry of limbs as he created a total of thirty onigiri, twelve with eggs, fourteen with tuna, and four plain ones because he got overzealous with the tuna. By the time Donny was finished he looked fairly proud of his work. There were a few droppy eye onigiri's, and a couple that weren't completely packed. Donny set these aside and would eat them first. He glanced over to Hakura and then to everyone else before looking at at his partner. "So... Can we eat them now?" Donny really wanted to eat them, especially his egg onigiri, while they were still warm. They were just fine cold but it was hard to heat them up once they cooled down so the warm taste of a boiled egg and steamed rice wasn't going to be something easily achievable once it becomes cooler. Donny was also interested in sharing and trying everyone else onigiri's. He smelled mackerel from one of the other workstations and was eager to eat his favorite fish. [@Eggs]
