Name: Sagara Hajime Alias/Nickname/s: Surgeon of Death Gender: Male True Age: 2459 Appearance Age: ?? Race: Shinigami Rank: Elite Captain Division: 4th History: And so begins the story of how Sagara came to be. Before Sagara was born his parents had been citizen of a small city in japan that mostly no one knew of since it was such a small city. The city was relatively lively since everyone knew each other on a first and last name basis from the small population, the city wasn’t known for much apart from its lively economy, which was the only thing that kept the city afloat beyond the control of the government. Now Sagara's parents had both worked with the economy and had both grown to be very wealthy, their names were weighted heavy in the city for their outstanding funds. At the time they didn't know either one existed since they worked in two different types of work. His father being in charge of imports and exports, while his mother was in charge of financing the revenue and expenses of each major company. With such jobs that needed the utmost dedication and most of their time, it seemed the two didn't have time to burden themselves by going out and having friends. Their jobs were to demanding that the little time they had off they had spent sleeping preparing their bodies for the next day. Well, fortunately for them they had both moved to Karakura Town for separate actions by their companies and they became familiar with Karakura Town and its bustling erratic movement, it seemed like the city always had something important to do. During a festival in Karakura Town everyone that was anyone was invited since it took up the streets and bar’s everywhere became packed along with restaurants. Awkwardly enough Sagara's parents had met at one of these bars in the busy Karakura Town streets, they had gone with separate friends, but at the end of the night had ended up leaving together. What drew them together were each other’s personal characteristics. His dad had serene silver eyes that captured the light in a way it captivated people who looked into them. And his mother had lush flawless skin with beautiful auburn hair and a smile you couldn't say no to. Both had been passing glares to each other the whole night until his father finally mustered up the courage to have finally asked her on a date. The two kicked it off that night they painted the city red, celebrating, eating, and sharing laughs with one another. It was almost too good to be true, how in just one night they could find such a paradise that people only dreamed about. Now, fast forwarding a couple of years, the two finally settled down after his father asking her to move in with him, even though it wasn't the big question his mother had hoped for (marriage) she was still glad that they had took their relationship one step closer to that of marriage. They still had been working for the businesses they had started off as, but now they had been with their companies so long they gained benefits that would cover their own expenses and medical needs. By now Sagara's father popped the big question asking his mother to be with him forever. In tears she smiled and said yes making it the happiest days in both of their lives. The wedding had been gorgeous and over the top since they had the money to spend on it. Friends and family from all over the country came to see the two wed. Unfortunately during the time of the wedding a massive earthquake hit the surrounding area and unknowingly his two parents had consumed the nameless worm. By now they had saved enough money they could consider early retirement, but his mother had other plans. Those plans later turned into young Sagara being born, yes finally after an odd number of years he was born into the Expanding world, thus his own story beings. Both of his parents had retired from their job yet they lived the luxurious life. Together they raised Sagara into a smart and caring little boy, though he wasn't the spoiled kind. Growing up was easy for Sagara as he was taught by his parents at a young age. They had taught him the basics that every child should and then they began giving him books to read without the pictures. Years passed and now Sagara was able to speak fluently with great vocabulary and had excellent grammar he was about 11. For the next 10 years of his life he would begin to learn all there was to be known about science and medical studies. His parents had aged and now they were in there forties yet still lively. Sagara had took an interest in science and developed a knack for it, studying for hours upon hours when he got home, proud to present to his parents of what he learned in school that day. It was true his mind was more developed then the kids his age, but some say it was good genes, others called it good parenting, and most people just said he was a genius. They all took each compliment willingly and were embarrassed at how popular Sagara had gotten over the years. Sagara on his own was happy with his childhood and life he didn't have needs for games or being a ninja he wanted to just have more knowledge so he could carry on his family name and inherit his first son rights as successor to the family fortune. Two years passed and now Sagara was 13 and had been overcome with an obsession with the human anatomy and what fragile beings humans were. This obsession became a permanent habit; instead of studying anything else he became infatuated with learning all about the human genome. The human body seemed complex, but at the same time it was so weak, it was unable to do such enormous feas as the animal kingdom could accomplish like a lizard’s regeneration or a cheetah’s speed. Even the human body’s immune system was feeble at best compared to a chimpanzee. And so Sagara spent all his time and energy into the research of the human anatomy until he mastered its knowledge. By now Sagara had finally begun to travel to public school instead of being taught at home since his parents wanted him to learn the meaning of having companions. During his school year the teacher’s and administrator had been playing around the idea of going on an out of school field trip. They would take a handful of students and take them out to camp in the countryside by the mountains so they could explore nature and the caves that had been made long before the buildings and steel that made Karakura Town. Sagara was excited to go and his parents gave him the permission to go on the trip with the rest of his classmates and his friends. It seemed as though everything was going according to plan. The school was closed for the week, they had enough supplies to last them through the week, and the kids were filled with adventure. They took a bus out of the city to a desolate land where no skyscrapers or buildings were made and the weather was quite chilly. From the bus they began to hike led by the Administrator who had a map of the area around him. And simple enough there was a trail that led the through a forest and higher up into the mountains. Laughing and fun could be heard behind the Administrator as the teachers talked to the students and the students mingled with each other, but something began to puzzle the Administrator, he was lost. A quick glance, a turn of the map, a squint, he was indeed lost and his pride prevented him from asking for help since he arranged the entire thing. Ignoring the fact he was lost he decided to take control of the expedition and follow his sense of direction and where he was headed originally. Everyone else was completely unaware of where they were going and when they asked the administrator if he knew where they were headed, he always gave a weary smile, and said yes. But aspirations began to grow shallow since they hadn’t made it to their camp and the sun began to set. Furthermore as he tried to calm them the kids grew weary as well and began to grow hungry and tired. Then things went from bad to worse when the sky began to fog up with dark grey clouds and the familiar sound of thunder struck the air. Rain began to downpour unto the group and the rest of the forest. Scared now they all began to panic before the administrator directed them to an open cave where they could rest in. They rushed to the cave and poured in one by one until they were in a mass huddle. Wet, Scared, and tired they hung onto the teachers and waited out the storm. The administrator had begun to whisper to the other teachers telling them that indeed they were lost. Chattering filled the cave and despair steadily rose in each of the teachers while the administrator felt like a recluse. The thunder became louder and the lightning became more reoccurring until it rang just outside of the cave. And then finally the lightning struck at the cave and the rock and sediment above the cave crumbled and incased the opening into a rock prison. The children screamed and cried themselves to sleep until the next morning, very few streams of light poked through the creases in the rock. Time after time the teachers tried to break through the prison, but the more they tried the more rocks covered the entrance. Weeks dragged on without any contact to the outside world and it felt like no one was going to look for them now. Slowly but surely they all began to lose their willpower, the food and supplies they had begun to shrink in size and the teachers began to sacrifice their portions to the kids so they could survive instead of going to sleep hungry. However as the supplies shrank in size the adults began to grow weak and had befallen into sickness from not eating and burning to much energy. Being the oldest and most knowledgeable on the human body and medicine Sagara looked after their supervisors, with limited supplies he tried the best he could to keep them alive, but was defeated when they had all died one by one; either from insanity or hunger and dehydration. Sagara never felt so alone and discarded, it was only him and the other children now and the isolation had begun to drive them mad. Sagara and the rest of them had begun to lose their humanity and became animalistic, being the only one who kept his will, Sagara cut himself off from the rest of the boys and separated him from the rest. Yet the hunger kept swinging at him, his hope was quickly diminished when no one from the town had gone to retrieve them, maybe they would never come to get them, and how would they know where the cave was now that it was covered in rocks. That night Sagara had begun to fall asleep, he hadn't slept in days in fear something would happen to him, or he would miss his chance at rescue, little did he know he was making a big mistake. When he fell asleep the other kids formed around him, targeting Sagara because he was alone and weak. Crazed, starving for food, the children pounced on Sagara and held him down. Sagara immediately woke up in a panic, his eyes wide open as the fear and horror illuminated his eyes. Sagara tugged and pulled yet no avail, he had tried screaming, but that wasn't working either. All Sagara could do was cry and hope they would stop, that's when he felt the teeth of one of his fellow classmates sink into his skin. The children grew barbaric and ravenous chomping away at his skin and muscle. Sagara tugged and pulled the pain surged through him he felt like he was dying slowly and there was no way out, he would soon pass out from blood loss, thinking to himself this was the last moments of his life, he then tugged for freedom trying to think of a solution out. He was running out of time the kids had already gotten to the bone which they began to break, they had been wanting the marrow from inside his bones, they had been starved for weeks and this was their first chance at something to eat, they were almost in a ritualistic manner devouring his arm and the rest of his body, with his blood riddled over their faces. Sagara thought fast realizing he should do just the same; Sagara chomped down on the hand that held his mouth exerting all the pressure he could. The boy holding him let go, now was his chance. Sagara screamed, it was a blood curdling high pitched scream, he screamed so loud he nearly exhausted his oxygen supply. Hopefully his efforts wouldn't be in vain. Sagara had passed out from blood loss his tears the only thing covering his body. Oddly enough Sagara awoke the next day alive? Yes he was alive, but he was no longer in the cave. He had woken up in a rather strange lab he had never seen before. Sagara had shot straight up thinking he was in a nightmare, he touched his face, but there was something different his touch was cold. When Segara stretched out his arms he saw that both of his arms were riddled with stiches, up and down, scattered everywhere. His arms were covered in sitches all around and when he panicked he threw the blanket he had been covered with to the side, only to reveal his legs, feet, and upper torso were just engulfed in stiches. Almost on instinct Sagara threw his hands to his face and felt nothing, his sense of touch had been eliminated from the multitude of bites he suffered, his nerves were to damage to repair so they died and he lost one of his five natural senses. As he began to cry he rose up feeling extremely weak as he looked into the reflection of an iron fridge and saw his face has been scarred with stiches too. Sagara yelled in anger and tragedy as he knocked over all the beakers and glass jars that were set on top of the desk. When suddenly his savior had rushed in and held Sagara, his name was Saito. After he had calmed down, Saito began to explain what happened to Sagara after he passed out. In a surprising turn of events, Saito a surgeon and alchemist had heard the savage noises and yells for help from the cave. When he ran over to investigate he destroyed the cave wall with an alchemic concoction and entered while he euthanize the other boys whose souls had been too far gone to save. Using some traditional medicine Saito kept Sagara alive just enough so he could operate him in his private lab where he awoke in. But why was he near the cave? Saito acknowledged his curiosity and confessed the he was an Alchemist looking for rare ingredients that only lived in the natural areas outside the town. Alchemy was considered magic in their times for it was an alternative to medicine and rumored to have the power to rival god, even so far as to say that alchemy can turn metals into gold. Sagara, still confused, soon grew attached to Saito, not only because he saved his life, but because of his passion for power and knowledge. And so Sagara became Saito’s disciple and soon Sagara began to learn information he never knew existed, he learned new things about the human body and how to treat it better than most physicians could. And he grew especially excited when the taboo art of alchemy was explained to him, for the next few years Sagara would work his way to perfecting the art until he was able to master it that was until today. While Saito had gone out to find ingredients Sagara had created a secret side project hidden from Saito that was even taboo for him. The dangerous art of human modifications, Sagara read of heinous and destructive alchemy that would allow him to bend fire at will or allow him the strength of a bear and the regenerative properties of a starfish. But what he wanted was immortality and rebirth so his scarred body would be reborn into an immortal one. Having gathered the required materials Sagara began the ritual as he carefully followed the instructions, but what he didn’t know was this magic was never perfected. His avarice is what would be the means to an end, the alchemic sequence began, but what started out flawlessly ended horribly. The sequence began to go array and Sagara entered a stage of denial, but it was too late. The sequence had overreacted and the entire process had sparked an explosion with the chemicals. The explosion erupted in front of Sagara’s face as the flames engulfed his body and consumed the lba round him creating several more explosions from the materials that were in the lab. And in a matter of minutes the entire lab had exploded leaving nothing but remnants of its past behind. When Saito had arrived it was already too late. And so in a fiery death Sagara laughed manically on his way to the other side. Arriving in Rukongai was his first experience being in the world of reishi and other natural phenomenon that took place in the shinigami world. Sagara immediately took this as a challenge and began to build his vault of knowledge of all that existed in this new world. However when he first arrived his body still bored the army of stiches on his body, but now his body was charcoal black from the burns that he inflicted upon himself. The burns seemed to never heal and the heat stayed with him as well, publically he was an atrocious monster so Sagara decided to cover up his mistakes and wrapped himself in a multitude of gauze and bandages until he became comfortable with his look. From then on Sagara built his knowledge until he joined the Gotei 13 as the 4th Divison Captain. There Sagara fused his prior medical knowledge and alchemy with that of the new world with Reiatsu and Kido at his disposal. From then on Sagara became one of the oldest Shingami in the Gotei 13, second to the Captain Commander. Sagara is by far the most knowledgeable on health related matters in all of Soul Society. He is known to be highly proficient in conventional healing techniques as well as herbal healing. He also has the ability to heal more than just Shinigami, since he was once human too. His Kido has also become rather advanced in the art of spiritual energy and has created a battalion of his own Kido. His knowledge and mastery of healing Kidō are unrivaled within Soul Society. Sagara is well-versed in a variety of Kidō, able to easily use high-level Hadō and Bakudō spells without incantation. And now Sagara the crazy motherfucker that he is remains one of Soul Society’s most intellectual and dangerous beings. Personality: Sagara has no compassion or mercy for his enemies, though he never shows much regard for human life, at some points even letting on that he likes to kill and experiment whether or not his enemy is alive or not. He is rather morbid and arrogant. Nevertheless, none of these character flaws prevent him from being a superb investigator and fighter. He believes in peace and order, even in the society created by his former enemies. Anyone he considers to be corrupt or despotic, he targets for elimination. He expects those involved in the soul society army to carry out their duties without letting their personal feelings interfere. Sagara is calm and collected, not getting rattled by his opponents. He is quiet and contempt, as he does not speak often, but he does speak to everyone with a natural apathy as he gives everyone a state of neutrality until he better knows the person, he barely uses honorifics and when faced with advising people he grows a small vendetta. He noticeably dislikes opponents who are cowardly, instead preferring opponents who are brave enough to face him. He also seems to dislike opponents who are weaker than him, preferring to face opponents who possess either the same level of skill as him or are a bit stronger than him. Sagara comes off as being very dark. Sagara claims to enjoy the relationship between victim and murderer, stating that before the murderer kills their victim the two share a level of intimacy which is too deep for words. He also views love as a sadomasochistic relationship, believing that lovers care deeply for each other and yet hurt each other whenever they are together. He rarely displays emotion, never seeming angry or sad, but when Sagara enters his Bankai Sagara seems to disregard his old personality and becomes swallowed by a blood thirsty unbalanced maniacal creature that has nothing but the determination for death. Other than that Sagara displays very high intelligence, in some ways giving him something of an evil genius persona and personifies the stereotype of the mad scientist. TO sum it all up Sagara is a coldblooded ruthless scientist.
