Since her hair is naturally long, when she’s on duty, she keeps it up in a bun, except for the parts of her hair that mutated due to the Summon Fusion experiment. As a result of being bonded with Carbuncle, she has a diamond-shaped, red gem in her forehead, as well as a pair of long, ear-shaped extensions in her hair, which start just above her natural ears and hang down to just below her shoulders. Personality Lapin conducts herself as she believes a lady should conduct herself: she speaks articulately, she’s rarely rude or crass, and she tries to be friendly to everyone even if it’s only because she feels obligated to do so. She’s quick to speak her mind if she believes that it can benefit the group, and this can at times put her at odds with her subordinates, who probably don’t have the education and refinement that she does. Her role as a 2nd Class SOLDIER dictates, at least to her, that she should not get especially close to any of her subordinates, so she can come across as aloof and at times withdrawn. She is ever ready to please her superiors as she has a reputation to maintain as a Delacroix. In her downtime, she enjoys reading history books or sharing her knowledge with her more inquisitive comrades. She also likes to play games that require tactical thinking, such as King’s Field, or chess, and even though she may not win every game, she enjoys the challenge. Also, she recently discovered that she likes dogs, as she’s never had any pets growing up but sees them quite frequently on her travels. She thinks their little, dark eyes and noses are simply adorable! She doesn’t anger easily, at least not visibly, but the easiest way to get a rise out of her is to compare her to a rabbit. She’s well aware of what her name means in another language, but her name is not Rabbit, it is Lapin. She’s generally annoyed by her mutation which lets people draw even more similarities between her and Leporidae but she tries not to let it bug her too much. Using that as a jumping off point, Lapin is also annoyed by people who are rude for rudeness’ sake, and if that person happens to be a subordinate, she will certainly call them out on it. As a representative of SOLDIER and the Shinra Corporation, as well as being a Delacroix, she believes that she has to maintain a standard of behavior. Background In times long ago, it is told that if a person or persons were in need of protection, they could send a prayer on the wings of a bird and before too long, The Delacroix would appear to defend them from whatever troubles would beset them. This is the glamorous part of the legend, and the part that Lapin prefers to cite when asked about her heritage. In reality, the Delacroix were a band of mercenaries of various ethnic backgrounds who offered their protection services for the right price. They were known for using only shields as their primary weapons. Fast forward to a couple of generations ago, when Shinra Electric Power Company had only recently discovered Mako energy. The Delacroix by this time had become the private security firm “Delacroix Security Solutions”, and had made quite a name for themselves as one of the top security firms in the world. Seeing an opportunity to build a powerful business relationship, Delacroix approached Shinra and offered its services; Shinra, at this time, could not possibly have enough resources to protect all of its assets: the Mako mines, their fledgling reactors, and all of its other business holdings. Delacroix were hired, and Shinra began to prosper. Shortly after Midgar was completed, Shinra was able to buy out Delacroix and assimilate them into their own security forces, setting the Delacroix family for life. Lapin is the only child of Konejo and Usagi Delacroix, and because of this, her parents were able to devote all of their time (read, their servants’ time) to her care, education, and upbringing. She knew nothing but only the finest luxuries growing up, but was also aware of the strife and hardships that occurred under her feet in the slums of Midgar, and she was sympathetic, though she never actually ventured anywhere near the slums and always more or less assumed that Shinra Inc always had their best interests in mind. Having grown up with the finest education Midgar had to offer, and with such a rich family history herself, in her downtime, she dove into educating herself in the ways of the Delcroix fighting style (mostly as a hobby, but also as a way to carry on her family’s legacy of protecting the downtrodden since there was now no business for her to inherit). She became quite adept with the fighting style and, when she turned 18, applied directly for the SOLDIER program, based on nothing more than her own skill, pedigree, and desire to make Midgar (and by her reasoning, the world) a better place. What with his whole necrotizing/zombie-like qualities.
