Simplest thing to do would be to have Zomb's character slip off while everyone's fighting. Already established that he doesn't trust certain members of the group, and if Aristo's character straight up dies, that'd totally convince Ihohsa to book it.

Then, whenever Zombs returns, his character just comes back from their super secret journey thingy.
