Of course, the UAV system was highly underdeveloped. It was difficult enough for Michel to control the ten Beamstar Blades of the Promethion, he was nowhere near capable enough to handle the complex swarm mechanics of the UAV squadron. The engineers ideally would like Michel to be able to remotely control the squadron while he was piloting the Promethion, which also required a strong uninterrupted Etherion link from the Promethion to the Vaucanson Base. But if they could get it up and running, it would provide an added layer of defense for the fortress.
