"I was not given a warning that I would be dropped from there!" Elena thought, observing the cloudless sky. She leaned back into a relaxed sitting position, and noticed the new world around her. She look a quick glance around. The while grass stood tall and firm, fragile dewdrops clung to each individual strand. "So realistic... How do they produce such glamours details?" In front of her lay a stone necklace, a basic pair of leather boots, and a rusty dagger. Okay... the guide said walking should be simple. She stood up, straightened her back and took one step forward, bending her legs far too much and taking a comically short step at the same time. The controls were awkward and foreign to her. She sat back down and reach out to the starting boots. Her arm movements were much more natural than her legs, but still could use some work. "So thats how it feels..." She thought to herself. Behind her, something shuffled towards her. Elena whipped her torso around, and stared a a small animate rock, no taller than her knees. It had a short lose branch jumble and a sharp grey rock as its one arm, two smoother rocks and a assortment of pebbles for legs, and two sturdy boulders for a body and head. Its eyes were sunken in and a solid shade of blue, emitting a soft light source. Moss and small plants decorated its head and shoulders. Elena dropped her boots, and let out a squeak. Her heart sank and she shut her eyes tightly. She tried to to shield her head and keep it away from this horrid monster, but ended up slapping her face instead. She braced herself for an attack, but nothing occurred. Reopening her eyes, she saw the horrific beast. Actually... it wasn't that bad. The tiny rock "thing" tilted its head like a puppy, its blue eyes glaring into Elenas. It was almost cute, but still weird. "Aren't you going to attack me or something? she said. The rock thing just stood there, like a rock. Elena broke out into laughter. She concluded that the rock was a friend, not a foe."Don't do that again! You scared me!" It still stood there, just like before. Elena chuckled a little more, but her tone changed to be more cautious. "So are you a npc? Maybe the tutorial? Wait... you're a player, right?" The rock stared back, with heavier intensity than before. How strange... I guess I should let it be... It hasn't concerned itself with me, after all. She turned her torso again and addressed the gear layed out in front of her.Elena slipped her feet into the worn in boots. Dew had rubbed off from the grass and made the insides of the thin leather cold and damp. "Great... they're damp and ugly. How can they make such beautiful grass and not put any thought into the starter items!" She inspected her dagger, it was rusty, brittle and lightweight. Too heavy of a strike could easily snap the blade in half. "Good to know the devs of the game want me to defend myself with this paperclip" She made a small slash in the air with it, pretending the dagger was a long sword and she a strong warrior. Finally, she hung the stone necklace around her neck, feeling its smooth curves. She gripped her new weapon and took a step forward. Her stride was still awkward, but soon developed into a stable walk. After 3 steps Elena heard 5 quick thumps behind her."Are you following me?" she said, turning her head to face the rocks. The rock still stood like a statue and stared, watching Elena's eyes. "Do you mind staying behind?" Dismissing the rock, she took 5 more steps foward, and 8 thumps followed behind. Its obvious this thing isnt listening to me... what do I do? Elena halted her movement, crouched down to the tiny rock man. She flooded it with questions, and commands. She was less angry and more curious to find out the purpose of this creature. "Are you lost? Whats your name? What species are you? Why are you following me? Can I help you?" For every sentence she said, she was given a blank, emotionless, still stare. Elena finally gave in and let the rock follow her, she had no other choice. It wasn't harming her, so why not? "Assuming you can't speak, you probably dont know your name. I think of one for you by tomorrow, for now your just called Eb." Elena said, taking steps forward. Behind her, the rock creature had a blue name appear above its head. Eb.
