The land of Aria is a magical place full of many myths and legends, some holding more truth than others. One such tale, being one children's tale of a group of heroes and a demon. Famerin(fa-meer-in) was said to be the demon that would bring the end. Five brave heroes, with the help of a powerful mage, crafted weapons with which they trapped Famerin in an eternal prison, bringing peace to the land for many years. That is what the tales say, there are varied versions, some holding more truth, but that is the most common. What people don't know, is that it's not some fairy tail. Famerin is a real demon, and the six heroes really trapped the demon in what was meant to be an eternal prison. But even the most intricate of prisons have flaws, the flaw in this one? Mankind. The prison was the grimoire of the mage, and was locked using the weapons of the other five as a sort of key, and only by gathering them was the lock supposed to be removed. Over time however, mankind stopped believing in magic, weakening it significantly, causing this lock to deterierate, though not enough to free the demon. The grimoire, found it's way onto an imperial trading vessel, which as luck would have it would come to be siezed by pirates. Plot: Our story will follow a group of pirates. The captain having accidentally freed Famerin while trying to force the grimoire open, though due to the lock not having been properly opened at around 1% normal power. Leading to an adventure across the seas gathering the weapons of the five heroes. These weapons, known as Cursed Artifacts, grant their wielders exceptional powers, though at a price unique to each. Once they are gathered, there will be an event. This is sorta like a 'choose-your-own-adventure' story, with a set destination, but what happens exactly at that destination wil depend on your choices. Information: Setting: For weapons the most advanced would be flintlock rifles/pistols and cannons. Cursed Artifacts for obvious reasons are unable to be as advanced. So, think Pirates of the Carribian for setting, with a few more medieval twists. Magic?: It's a thing in this world, yes. But it's a forgotten art. Meaning, no you can't have a battle-mage pirate. However, with that stated, for plot reasons I will allow, and highly encourage, one character to have an affinity for magic, because plot stuff. Cursed Artifacts: Special weapons. They grant the wielder powers beyond that of any human. This can be anything from pyromancy to gravitational manipulation. However, the more powerful the ability, it has an equally powerful curse to it, this can be anything from the user experiencing immense pain any time they use it, to something a little less noticeable like a shorter lifespan every time it's used. The grimoire being the only Cursed Artifact without a downside, due to it simply being a vessel to house the demon, and granting it's wielder no powers aside from the information contained within. You will decide what your characters artifact will be, how powerful it is, etc, however you will not get to decide where or when it will be found. There are five total artifacts, not counting the grimoire, the captain will be able to wield both the grimoire and this sixth artifact. Character Limit?: Yes and No. You may only have one 'main' character, this character will be of high standing on the pirate ship and will be granted a Cursed Artifact when found. However, a Pirate ship could not be ran by five people, so there are most certainly more people aboard, and you are free to make as many side characters as you wish. These side characters could be anything, ranging from the ships cook to even a prisoner. Player Limit?: Excluding me and Angel, I will be limiting this to four people. Co-mods?: [@AngelofOctober] is my first co-mod. They help me with roleplay stuff all the time. They hold as much say as I in this, and will be helping me with plot stuff. We are however going to be assigning a second Co-mod. How? Well, whoever impresses us the most in character creation will receive that honor. This means we will be looking for: Creativity; We aren't saying you can't make a character with Cliche's, but make it your own. Well Written; We don't expect perfection, but you shouldn't have grammatical/spelling errors every other sentence. Communication; We expect you to talk to us. Ask questions. If you want to make an alchemist, ask questions, make sure it would fit. If it doesn't, be civil. You can debate for your case, but if you are uncivil at any point, I'll be honest, you won't be accepted at all.
