Premise
A modern world does not eradicate the strife we once knew as myth, and legend. Imagine an existence where witch hunts were still a condoned practice, where monsters roamed the space between cities, and where the technological level of daily life rivals that of which we consider modern. A series of cities and smaller towns stretching out across the world's shape, the spaces between considered a ravaging nexus of monsters, and beasts, that is the home you know, the only reality you can cling to. The everyday comforts we all know and love, such as a hot shower and the ever forgiving bathroom eradicating pesky challenges, are all available to you. Each city is run by its own rules, and its own moral values. Due to the dangers lurking outside the walls, travel between cities requires protection, hence why the mercenary occupation is quite the popular choice among those who would challenge their limits. Projectile weaponry such as guns are quite present, indeed. However, they are loud. Firing a gun in the wilderness will certainly give away your position and paint your group a prime target for whatever beast lies in wait. You've heard of witches and sorcerers, and perhaps you'd be considered one, yourself. Now, what are these extraordinary beings, and why are they so feared? Why are they hunted down if found out, and killed in a public execution despite the modernized world you have come to love? Scientists and those who would examine the phenomena might not use the magical terms others, especially the church, uses to describe these beings. No, Mutant would then be a better fit. All of these Mutants, as it were, have access to powers beyond mortal means, and their capabilities have often been brought up in a positive light by certain people of political standing. However, these opinions are quickly shut down by a majority of negative flares. Where does this leave you? Are you one of these mutants? Are you mundane? What is it you do, on a daily basis? Do you work within the safety of a city's limits, or do you venture into the ravaged wilderness in search of lost civilizations? Do you perhaps eradicate monsters, for a living? The choice is after all, yours. Cities govern themselves, the wilderness in between each is filled with dangers, and values hint back at a judgmental society. For ease of interaction, everyone starts in the same city. Ravenholm.
Ravenholm
Population - 100 000. Running Sector - The Church. Wealth - High. Geographical Location - Mountainside. Means Of Protection - High walls, heavy weaponry and mountainsides.
Moral Values
This is a dark and gritty role play. It caters to the vicious and judgmental beliefs seen in medieval times which condemns that of which was considered unnatural, and ungodly. What does this mean? It means that preferences dipping into anything but heterosexuality is seen as unnatural and wrong, by the masses. Women are often seen as weak, and incapable. Those who openly oppose the church are branded as criminal, and those displaying special powers are despised as demonic entities. While I do not expect any player character to hold these values, it will be interesting to see if anyone chooses to adopt one or two narrow minded views.
The Church
Based around the medieval version of Christianity, those of religious pursuit follow similar beliefs. Those who do not, rarely express their lack of faith in fear of persecution. Of course, other cities in other parts of the world have completely different beliefs based on the culture of that area. However, to focus the aspect of this role play, I will narrow the sections down to the western world. Additionally, the clergy in Ravenholm is also militaristic and in the possession of anti mutant weaponry. The below rules, are my own. 1. Censorship - I stand in strict opposition to censorship, hence the adult theme. As such, I do not care how detailed, gory or sexual you make your posts as long as you follow the site rules. 2. Do not God Mode - A common rule in pretty much every RP. Do not control other peoples' characters, and do not automatically assume and write out a conclusion involving others without their consent. 3. PvP - Personally, I avoid forum RP PvP. For those who do not, I point back at rule number two. Have a good communication between the players involved. 4. Powers - If you choose to play a mutant, you can have one power. That power can have active and passive effects, and it can have certain features related to it, but every character can have a single power. Do not pick something ridiculously overpowered. Involve limitations as well as strengths. 5. Setting - I expect players to abide by the setting of this Role Play. Remember that things out of the ordinary will be punished if made public. 6. Character Number - Play as many characters as you feel you're able to maintain. 7. Activity - Please, be active. Post at least once a week. 8. Post Length - While I am not super strict on this, always write a post which gives those you are interacting with, something to work with. I'd say, go with at least two paragraphs. Collaborations are strongly encouraged. 9. Conflict - We're all different people, and conflict might very well arise. Be civil, talk it out, and I have no patience with flaming. Everyone here is an adult, and we should act the part. 10. Rules 2.0 - If more rules turn up, I'll notify everyone.
