Sanctus was apparently favored by whatever gods controlled good timing, as he returned from a minor quest to the Legion Headquarters just as 6Speed made a sextuple announcement to the members. "Good news, everybody!" He had said. The excitement was slightly contagious in Sanctus' case, as he had just returned from a visit to one of the many local churches whose services he felt obligated to attend. When he had arrived on Earth, the Paladin had no idea what to expect. Probably one of the last things on his mind was the level of celebrity status he had attained, due to both his appearance and his abilities. Apparently, by human standards, he was considered attractive. And by religious standards, he was some sort of sign. Sanctus didn't understand. Didn't they have Paladins on the planet before he arrived? He didn't even worship a particular god, he was devoted to the code of his order. Nonetheless, he was hounded by the various representatives until he relented on the grounds that he be permitted to leave if he deemed it necessary. So far, no fewer than ten congregations had tried to promote him as some sort of proof of their ideology. No fewer than ten congregations now attempted to defame him because of the vehemence of his denials of those claims. Sanctus didn't want to be in the spotlight. He didn't want to be a religious symbol. He just wanted to go home, for the most part, and to give aid to those in need. Which was a distinction that was understood by the congregations he actually enjoyed visiting. It was less "You prove us right," and more "You set an example." The whole situation actually helped him, to some degree. It allowed him to get a different perspective on the "superhero" business. He understood the fear and uncertainty of the common people, and was able to spread the positive image of the Legion as well. Win-win, in his opinion. "What is this good news, Duron?" Sanctus asked, grinning and removing the more formal pieces of his attire, holding them in the crook of his elbow until he could store them in his quarters.
