	Professional, astute, and placid. On the surface, these three words describe Saizou Nanaya perfectly. Not one to rise to provocation or any overly emotive response, he approaches life with an observant and cautious eye. Although a young officer, Saizou already carries himself with the aura of a soldier due to his life as a Nanaya. The activities of a soldier are actually more of a vacation for him than anything serious. 

	Although the picture of a professional and impassionate killer on the surface, Saizou's allies may notice the streak of comradery present in the young man. To those he has fought beside, he offers small smiles and the occasional bit of banter, showing that past the exterior of a warrior there might just be a kid who likes to mess around every now and then. Such behaviour would be considered unbecoming for a Nanaya heir, but luckily for him, he's not with them right now. He's with the Imperial Japanese Army. 

	Saizou is one of the individuals in the war who, simply put, does not actually care about the subject matter of it. This fact is likely part of why he was chosen, his rather unidological view of the world could not possibly harm Japan, should his wish be granted. He shows no intense desire to change the world, nor to become an important player. One might say he is content with his lot in life. 

	This is only half the truth. While he may not care for the grail or any wish, if given the opportunity, he would still make one. It would be a wish befitting something as singleminded as a Nanaya; the death of all oni-kind, half-blooded and full.  


[b]Appearance: [/b]
	A pale man by even the standards of his kin. Saizou dresses immaculately, his uniform without fault and his hair hidden away behind his officers hat a majority of the time. Beneath it all is a refined body with its fair share of scars, some quite old, most recent. His eyes are a cold, unnatural blue for a Japanese man such as himself, making him otherwise stand out compared to his plain and professional appearance.  

[b]Biography:[/b] 
	Kill the body, become the mind.

	Saizou's life prior to being conscripted was nothing but that. Through the attachment to his body being nullified, he could push it to the extremes demanded of the Nanaya. Through becoming a mind contained within a weapon, he could better understand the techniques a Nanaya scion must learn. The death of bodily attachment leads to mastery of the mind, which leads to the forging of the weapon. 

	As expected, he mastered the Nanaya arts of Sensou and Sensa at a young age. Anything less would have been a disappointment. By the time he had stepped into being a teenager, he had already added his own techniques to the Nanaya Killing Arts. He was the ideal child-- until he was not. 

	Japan had been at war long before World War II. Maybe not officially, but it was clear to see that after the Meiji Restoration, Japan had been on the warpath, desiring conquest of local lands. The subjugation of the Chinese tribute state of Korea, the invasion of Manchuria, Russo-Japanese war-- and so on. The Nanaya and other families took part in their own ways, not to fight the enemies of the Emperor, but to slay their own foes-- monsters and demons which resided elsewhere. They developed and grew through these encounters, becoming more power.  Japan desired to be like its western neighbours, partaking in Imperialism, then seen as a badge of 'authenticity' which belonged only to the true powers of the world. Naturally, none of this was looked upon with any positivity by the west.  

	"The West taught Japan poker, but after winning all the chips, declared the game immoral." Said a diplomat at the time.

	And so they fought their wars and expanded, and now it comes to a head. Japan has not turned away young men for its military forces since 1868, enforcing conscription on those between the ages of 17 and 40. None are exempt from hearing the call of the Emperor, even those of a family such as the Nanaya. Of course, the Nanaya always had the option of ignoring said call, retreating to places less populated to continue their lives there, but Saizou did not ignore the call. Once of age, he left his family behind with a mere note saying:

"Be back soon. Going on vacation. 
- Your son, Saizou"

	Indeed, by Nanaya standards, Saizou is the epitome of a delinquent. 

	Upon joining the Imperial Japanese Army, Saizou's lineage was recognized by those of notable importance. Rather than being sent to fight in the theatres of the Philipines and Malaya, he was inducted into a section of the army akin to the Kenpeitai. On the surface, they were the Kenpeitai. If anyone asked, they were Kenpeitai. But their true function was more esoteric. The enemies of Japan would not just act through ships and guns, but through other stranger means. Saizou is one of the responses to this reality-- a mind contained within a weapon. A weapon made for killing demons.

	Of course, some of the half-blooded in the higher rungs of society would rather not see one of their natural enemies working for them, but alas. Better to have a Nanaya pointed at the foe than at you. 

	Due to his inclination towards supernatural threats, Saizou was chosen to act as the IJA's guardian for the Holy Grail, and to exterminate those foreigners who would seek to steal from Japanese soil. While Saizou does not particularly have any strong patriotic feelings, his views on the world are in a state of evolution. He contrasts the world of today with the world of his ancestors, and he realizes that the monster humans need protecting from may simply be outsiders.

	Really though, there's not much to say about someone from a weird shutin family of murderers.

[i]Pure Eyes: Discernment of the Shortest Path[/i]
	Saizou's manifestation of the Nanaya's ESP abilities. His Pure Eyes observe probability and simultaneously calculate the most likely course of action based on the previous and current actions of the observed. This 'clairvoyance' allows Saizou to be aware of the most likely course of action of those around him within three seconds before it occurring. This can be effective anything from simple conversation to a battle between several individuals. 

	Naturally, these eyes are not absolute. These calculations are ultimately based on probability, and the most probable action is not always the action that will occur. However, instances of actions which reject probability are outliers compared to the consistency of his eyes.

[i]Houjutsu: Binding Edict[/i]
	Among the spells employed by Houjutsu users, the Binding Edict is among the easier to learn. All it requires is some unsullied Ofuda, a talented caligraphy hand, some magical energy, and a non-human, demon target. It restrains their movement and makes them easier to dispatch. The spell is absolutely useless against human targets, even those with half-blood.

As expected of a member of the Nanaya, Saizou carries a personal blade with him. It is not a unique blade beyond the fact it is of high quality.

Used for cutting fruit. Inscribed with his family name at the base.

He wears it well. He actually has several sets, due to the unique nature of his work.
[*] [i]Funds[/i]
While not his money, Saizou has access to whatever funds are required for the completion of his task. This does not mean he can go around spending absurd amounts, but he has near-limitless amounts of money, so long as it is spent within reason and not obviously wasteful.
[*] [i]Kenpeitai Tokumu Han Warrant[/i]
A special warrant of the Kenpeitai. It gives Saizou commandeering and judicial powers. Execution of citizens for defeatism and other treasonous behaviours is among these powers.

[b]Skills: [/b]
[i]Nanaya Killing Arts[/i]
	Techniques which can only be used by those who have pushed their bodies to their absolute human limit. These techniques were developed to kill things far more terrifying than men and magi. The Nanaya Killing Arts can be broken up into two broader categories; Sensou, the ability to move faster than the human eye can perceive, and Sensa, the ability to attack with that same speed. In other terms, Sensou refers to killing techniques used with the arms, and sensa are the techniques which employ use of the legs. Employed together, they create a combatant faster and more deadly than most men on the planet. 

[i]Murder Impulse[/i]
	When faced with non-human foes, the Nanaya's instinctive drive to kill them kicks in. While Saizou is a deadly combatant as it is, once the instinctive drive is active, he becomes far more efficient at utilizing the techniques of his family.
