Tyvia without its guns and well-maintained transport system has fallen back into the hands of the princes and princesses who have pulled it from the Empire. With Tyvia once again ruled by the princes no longer in exile, the people have taken up arms to keep those that would allow real freedom to rule them all once again. When Tyvia fell, those in Morley still believing in escaping the Empire took their chances crying out for independence the king of Morley was assassinated during his return trip from Gristol. The Queen did her best along with the loyalist soldiers to try and battle the rebels, but it proved too difficult and so eventually even royal palace fell. The loyalist cast out and a distant blood relative of the king who backs the rebels took the throne declaring freedom for all of Morley. Sekonos has only recently declared its neutrality in the conflict and will not aid anyone one country. Instead, the country flourished under it's young Duke, who with the aid of the Overseer's removed his sister believe to be a heretic. Worst of all, however, is in Gristol the aging Emperor Samuel has died and his grandson now rules the Empire. A council of advisors holds the true power waging war while the child Emperor sits through boring lessons ignorant to the truth of his country. Debate and bureaucracy stifle the wheels of power in the Empire as the royal navy battles on distant shores with marines. At home dissenters and sympathizers call for the head of the boy Emperor to end a war which they believe will never end. The Whale oil shortage has changed Gristol, only the guard now carry firearms. Bullets with whale oil have become such a precious commodity that those with ammo stores quickly sold them to ensure they were not the target of undersupplied soldiers. Rifles are now used giving the guards ranged weapon of truly terrifying power, though pistols are common enough still. Most battles are fought with blades now thanks to dwindling whale oil reserves on all sides, though rumors state that Serkonos has found a solution to the crisis. The gangs of the Isles have taken to using homemade 'boom' sticks. Propelling shrapnel made from glass, silverware, and other such items these dangerously unstable weapons do not use well oil but blasting power. With the recent wars, many have taken to the streets to force others to give up their valuables. Each day death and hatred take more lives as the world plunges further towards its own end. Yet hope remains, the void itself has a will and though it has no voice or song to guide those it would deem useful. It awakens those around them in a strange world, it gives them the mark of a dead god then it releases them. Yet they can feel it's call and pull tugging them ever onward. It wants them to stop this, to stop the death before there is nothing left for the void to take. Your mark has come to you, whether you wished for it or hate it. It has come and given gifts, though the void is not as generous as the Outsider it has also given you comrades in this endeavor. Together you will drag upwards out of the depths of pain and sorrow, you will take revenge and seat yourselves back in the world. Perhaps save it or doom it, the void cannot predict what those with a gift can do. Sing the song of the void and take vengeance? [hr] So the entire idea of this RP is based on a handful of people from around the isles who were chosen by the void. Each of them has fallen from grace, becoming less than they were. I would like each character from a very different background and more importantly from different isles from an inventor to a swordswoman. The idea of this is to tell the story of this small group who change and shape the course of Empire and perhaps even reawaken the old religion that lives on only in the tales of sailors. Since the release of the death of the Outsider, I've wondered what the world might be like without someone curiously gifting powers to the people he found the most interesting to watch. I imagine for generations he's caused as many deaths and saved many lives through those he bestowed his gift too. But this is a world without an Outsider looking in, picking the right moments and right players to uplift. Now the void in desperation has tried to do what the Outsider once did. After all the void has a will, people worshiped it before the Outsider. The void has a will it seems it wants the people of the isles around at least for whatever purpose it may have.
