[b]History[/b]: Mae-Lin had the typical Fire Nation upbringing. Being one of three siblings, she would often venture off on her own to have some peace of mind. It was there she would practice her firebending to gain a deeper understanding of her abilities, leading her parents as well as her brothers to drill her with questions as to her whereabouts upon her return home late at night. 

While out one evening, Mae-Lin was growing frustrated by her inability to adequately master lightning-creation, and in a blind rage, she accidentally ended up killing a boy who like her, had wondered off on his own. His screams still haunt her to this day, and it's something she thought she would take to the grave until a stranger showed up and proposed she do something for him in exchange for his silence.
