To back this up: Ukrain puts strong emphasis on the Cossacks as part of their national legend. The entire basis of the founding of Ukraine is to Ukrainians on a romantic notion of the Cossack. There hasn't ever been a "kingdom" of Ukraine. Only Cossacks, and the unique Cossack heritage.
