Russian Federation, Siberia
The sight of the once formerly secret Project Gate facility was to say the least - heavily interesting, despite the giant hole in the middle of the snow. The remains of the facility which had been cracked open like an egg - oil and fuel spraying everywhere, that added to create a burning inferno inside the crater. Namely, there wasn't just unlucky scientists still alive after that punch from the heavens - in fact there were numerous other creatures, that were trying to climb out of the burning hole. Unfortunately the newly arrived paratroopers didn't make it any easier. They were pouring in by the thousands, it wasn't enough that every shot that the troopers made hit something. Their accuracy was about 97% at this rate, since it was physically impossible to NOT hit something in the mountain of flesh. But there was just too many, not to mention the burning inferno started to slowly die - as the cold of the tundras started to rob the fire of it's heat. And with the damaged pipeline before, the oil ran eventually out and so did the fuel for the fire. As the paratroopers soon pulled back, and the Invaders managed to climb up the snow. In reply, it gave the numerous BMD's to fire their main cannons now as well - the rew of a 30mm autocannon soon was unleashed. As it tore apart flesh from bone, thousands of shells used up in mere seconds. In the air the old Mi-24 Hinds, used by the Central Military District, were proving their weight in gold - as they were shredding apart any of the strange creatures that tried to match them in the sky or air. Compared to Western heli's - the Mi-24 Hinds were a tough nut to crack. Designed to resist a shot from a .50cal MG - the attempts of the birds to try and break through was almost laughable. More than not, the only reason a couple of Mi-24s crashed down was due to visibility issues than actual damage. Sadly the luck of the Russians couldn't last for long, as the ammunition was running low fast - as some of the men had used up all of their available and even reserve ammo. Having resorted to even using their sidearms - while the ammo for the mechanized units and helicopters were running out as well. As the orders was soon given, under heavy static - the Hinds in the air soon unleashed their barrage of rockets at the black crater. ...it would be the defining moment, that would change the state of the Russian people forever - as the dozens of missiles streaked towards their target and impacted inside of the crater. Sadly, that also caused to crack the shells of the buried nuclear reactors. It was horrifying sight to see - as the men on the ground, started to drop like flies - having been fine just a few moments ago. The radiation from the reactors having been so heavy - not to mention, the portal ripping open didn't help in any way. The only reason the Mi-24s were still in the air, was due to the fact they were built to resist NBC warfare and had been built in such a way to protect the crew against such an attack. It didn't take the pilots long to check their imagers - not to mention the old rad-gear hanging from seats, had their old geiger-readers going ballistic. As the explosion from the missiles had mixed the dust with the heavy radiation and now was spreading it all over the Siberian tundra. With nothing else, the surviving Mi-24s soon turned their helicopters away and started flying back to base. Trying to contact base about what had happened. In the coming months, the fallout from the radiation would melt the snow and permafrost - in time, the methane would also get free. Turning the Siberian tundra - the likely only barrier against the Invaders into open flatland straight into the heart of their Motherland.

Poland, Warsaw
In the Capital, everything was under lockdown. Army units had been set to Tier Red - an all but preparation for total warfare. The Civil Guards had been alerted and told to gather their members and prepare for combat as well. All civilians were advised to stay in-doors and to remain calm. Operation Fissure had been enacted - namely the joint-plan made by AESR in the likely event of a Russian invasion. It had been tweaked for a different purpose - namely against alien invaders from another world. As in the Council Room - the nine heads-of-state watched on various screens that were showing things all across the world. Man had done it...they had smashed the wall to a new world - and it had replied in kind, with a language humans were all familiar with: war. The situation seemed to devolve rather rapidly - as the many military advisors in the room started to inform a drop in communication. Something was starting to choke the global network - something that wasn't likely related to the billions of people trying to contact their loved ones. It wasn't an overload, rather a drop-load - they were slowing losing connection to the global satellite network. Then to hammer in the nail on the foolishness of the human race - the military attache for the Hungarian President shouted up. As he soon brought up a laptop - of a region in Russia. It was reading a very heavy spike in radiation in the area - many went pale at that sight. Did the Russians honestly use nuclear weapons against these creatures? "...get me a phone...hotline to the German PM immediately!" commanded the Latvian delegate - the current 'head' of the AESR Council.
