Modrom - Man/Woman
Age: 21 Appearance: Aside from the capacity to form-swap between the first two pictures provided, the only notable thing differing Modrom from a usual Man/Woman is a black headband with "MODROM" printed across it in gold letters. Gender: Man/Woman Sexuality: Technically bisexual. Personality: For the most part, Modrom is a fairly simple character: they enjoy fighting, and they tend to be friendly and helpful outside of the arena, because that's how they were raised, and dammit, they're going to treat others how they want to be treated even if those people don't treat them how they want to be treated. Though they aren't stupid, they also don't much enjoy the effort involved in academia, and since it's always been an option, they've largely focused on combat training over education. They're excited, if a tad wary, for their first taste of tournament combat, as well as the opportunity to fight new opponents they've never seen before. That said, Modrom's personality does differ a little ways between their two forms, something that shows best on the field itself. In their Man form, they are comparatively more straightforward and stubborn, preferring to come up with a relatively simple course of actions first, and then follow through on that no matter what, though they will at least think it over and come up with different routes they can take toward achieving their goal. In their Woman form, they are rather more willing to make something up on the spot and alter that idea on the fly to match the situation, and they often seem to present a degree of cockiness that can be amusing or annoying, depending on the scenario. Biography: Modrom grew up in a small town whose occupants were largely, but not overwhelmingly, Mans and Womans. The nature of a Man/Woman is such that it can alter itself between Man and Woman at any time, a biological change often confused with Evolution among those who know of it, but even without this awareness, it has historically lead to a lot of curious interactions between Mans and Womans, and other creatures, not all of which were friendly. Whilst most in Modrom's hometown were nice enough, Modrom themself was always taught to be nice to others even when they weren't so nice, something they took to heart when making friends at school. But in their heart, Modrom knew being schooled wasn't their thing. They always seemed just a bit less on the ball than the average student, a touch slower to learn something new, and with so much fuss made over the Super Monster Fighting tournaments, they were enthralled from an early age, an attitude shared by many other monsters too. By the time they reached the age of ten, they had managed to convince their teachers to let them set up a sort of junior fight club, where they and others who were interested could fight one another in preparation to become the newest fighters in the real deal once they grew up. The next several years were used quite productively indeed, at least by Modrom's standards. When they weren't being taught, they were training, developing their skill in various combat styles to suit them, their power, and their dual form; as the club grew more popular, so too did Modrom start planning it more efficiently, splitting the club into "grades" that separated the weak from the strong, often the young from the old, and as its leader they cracked down on any elitist bullying that came about as a result. Grading themself by the same scale, Modrom pushed to reach the top by their own merits rather than by virtue of being the club's founder, and by the age of twenty had held the number one spot in the club's power grades for two years, though only mediocre schooling grades as before. And they held that position with good reason. Modrom themself hadn't realised exactly how far they had pushed their strength and that of others until one day, when one of the less tolerant monsters in their hometown came up to him, brandishing a gun that they assured Modrom would put an end to their "stupid gender-swapping ways". Naturally, this rather annoyed Modrom, but they didn't so much as defend themselves until the gun was fired, barely dodged just before the trigger was pulled, and it was only then that they beat the everliving snot out of their foe with but a few punches and wrestling combos. And goodness, what a thrill it was to finally understand how strong they were! Perhaps, they realised, they were finally ready for the real deal. It was with great sorrow that Modrom bid their friends and family farewell, declaring that the fight club would from then on be led by a group of the club's best organiser sorts, no matter their actual strength. The Super Monster Fighting Tournament beckoned, and Brass City promised many new adventures for the intrepid fighter. Perhaps even a new evolution, if they were lucky... Fighting Style: Modrom's combat style is a sort of mixed martial art that varies based on their form. In Man form, they prefer to avoid attacks, get in close, and then punch and kick their opponents, the simplest way of handling the matter; in Woman form, this shifts to account for the shift in appearance, changing focus from the hands and feet to the knees and elbows, as well as a preference for redirecting an opponent's attacks and grappling them to perform some form of wrestling move upon them. In either case, however, they do retain the knowledge of how to perform either form's techniques no matter their current form, and the physical change proper is entirely aesthetic in nature - both forms are generally well-balanced statistically, with some preference for attack power, no matter whether it's delivered as a burst of rapid attacks or a single overwhelming blow. Type: Friction - Modrom's power, and indeed that of plenty of other Mans and Womans, involves selectively altering their body's own friction at any given point. Anywhere between the two extremes of "completely stuck" and "sliding all over the place" are viable, and with the right setup, they can use this to both enhance their attacks and fend off the attacks of others in various ways, though they presently cannot alter the friction of anything outside of their body. Inventory: "MODROM" Headband - A leaveover from their time running their hometown's fight club, this is mostly what distinguishes Modrom from other Man/Womans, and makes a bit of an impression over all that blue and red to boot. Rucksack of Travelling - A green rucksack, containing travel essentials like food and water. And a tent. It's been useful, but is dropped outside of a fight proper.
