[@Muttonhawk] This reminds me of when someone asked how to say Jvan and was told, "You don't!" [s]I think Termite actually just said, "I got a way of saying it but I won't say bc I want u all to say it wrong lul"[/s]
More like, I found the diversity of answers fascinating and I wanted people to build up the character in their heads without forcing a 'correct' interpretation. [s]i wrote a whole IC post on the million different ways she was known just to give you ideas[/s] But in case anyone is dissatisfied with their own reading, here's the most closely guarded secret of the cancer that blogs...
[s]nice try lol[/s] I pronounce the 'j' as 'jam' and add a quick syllable into it. JUH-VAHN, clipped and shortened, J'VAHN. JVAN. Jvan! The alternate pronunciation with J as Y was always something I'd had in mind, though. Another thing I'd always considered was the similarity to the unspeakable name of the Abrahamic God, YHWH, or Jehovah. Jeh-vah. J-vah(n). I gave Y'vahn to the humans in that old name post because it was the closest thing to what I'd fallen into the habit of using, made a little more sense, and resembles another version of YHWH, 'Yahweh'. The Rovaick name 'Yah Vuh' is another play on the same. Her 'I am who I am' chant is too, though I found nice story reasons for it later. Hain and Tauga got 'Jaan' because it's the easiest possible interpretation, just silencing the annoying consonant that breaks up the name.
