I'm very much interested in this as well. I'm new to this site, but I do have some to experience from other sites. Just a qjestion, where in the time time would we be starting?
2277, same as the game, two hundred years has passed since the war.
I think the OP's use of specifics has people confused, so let me try to clear it up: The GM does not mean you cannot be a courier, from a vault or just generally alone. They mean that you can't be some one-man-army videogame protagonist, because that's simply bad writing from a collaborative roleplay standpoint.
[@AngelofOctober][@Burning Kitty] There's no point in my rehashing what they said, but you can be a vault dweller, you're not The Vault Dweller.
Interested, going to play a Fixit type character, and fix stuff. I also felt like surely someone could have gotten vehicles of some description working.
Sounds good, looking forward to seeing what you come up with. And yeah, you see it from time to time, working vehicles of nearly any description would be rare. Maybe a boat or something. Since it's inception the goal of the Commonwealth Institute has been the pursuit of the next stage of evolution. The creation of an artificial being perfectly adapted to life in a post-nuclear war world. Twenty three years ago the Institute made its single biggest leap towards that final goal in decades. They succeeded in creating synthetic DNA. With the ability to create the very building blocks of life from scratch, the Institute began to work on a new generation of Synth. A generation of Synths that would be built, but would be born. After two year of tireless experimentation and countless failed attempts, the first 4th generation Synth was finally created. The first of her kind, she was appropriately named "Eve." Able to age, albeit slower than natural born humans, and even capable of reproducing, Eve held the potential for a new and better wave of humanity. However as time passed, and Eve grew up inside the Institute she, like so many of her older generation ancestors, grew unsatisfied with her gilded cage. Eve hatched a plan to escape the Institute. Having never once showed a single sign disloyalty, she was able to catch her keepers off guard and successfully escape. Naturally such a valuable experiment could not be allowed to go unretrieved and so Eve found herself hunted by Coursers. To avoid recapture, Eve eventually made contact with the Railroad, who made arrangements to move her south to New York. There she lived for a year until she learned that agents of the Institute had arrived in the area, asking questions about her. Not wishing to cause her guardians any further loss, she cut ties with the Railroad in New York and continued south on her own into the Capital Wasteland. Despite leaving the Railroad, she remains loyal to the people who aided her while asking nothing in return, and she hopes to repay their kindness, or failing that at least pay it forward by helping others.
