[@Pirouette] I like the way you think. Me and ScreenAcne are part of a cult that reveres a witch that was killed in this town during the pre-Revolution era, and the time is now ripe for her curse to descend upon the town. ScreenAcne's character is making a show of putting on the Festival, and is grooming your character as a maiden sacrifice. Mae and Cao are friends, and now share the secret of the witch, which Mae learns about either through investigation or by my character beginning to induct her into the cult. Please note that extensive planning and worldbuilding prior to the actual start of the game is pretty much fruitless, since the narrative needs to evolve on its own and all of our plans will be ruined halfway through the game anyway.
