I understand that, but I was albeit confused as what you meant by "look it over." Did you mean scouting it out?

And in regards to the truck, the Palmers were forced to flee the family home because a horde of Risen/Crazed/Walkers. It's just sitting there on the side of the road with no gas, where they had to resort to the horses.
