Contest #34 Results

An interesting take on classified Atlesian weaponry. The theme of the weapon is pretty simple, but I'm a simpleton for simple things. One of the features of the weapon that particularly got my attention on this weapon was the ability to gather particles and use them as a projectile aside from Dust. It can be rather niche in certain RWBY team compositions, but it still sounds like a very cost-efficient way of using projectiles. The enhanced effectiveness in long fights also seems really interesting to take note of, especially with how long fights can be pretty dominant in RWBY-styled fights. It's gonna be a nightmare to duel against.

I've seen a Twin Axes + Hunting Rifle combo before, actually. This one beats the one I've seen though. Magnetism can lead to all sorts of funky stuff, especially when it's the axes being magnetic towards each other rather than just being a "it's magnetic to everything upon the user's will!!!" weapon. Also, making axes fly like boomerangs makes for a really amusing image. One thing I really enjoyed about this weapon is that you didn't go overkill on it and actually made it versatile by giving the weapon Dust compatibility in a sensible fashion. The Hunting Rifle seems pretty boring compared to throwing the axes around, but it was kind of stated that it's there for the sake of not making the user a sitting duck against other far-ranged opponents. I like this one a lot.

I like heavy weapons. With that said, this might be one of the few heavy weapons I've seen in RPs that doesn't sound like it has some godlike mechanism that makes up for its heaviness. It's a pet peeve of mine that I don't openly point out. Another thing I don't like seeing in heavy weapons is a lack of balance between weaknesses and strengths, but with that said, this thing's pretty obvious in how it's balanced. It feels rightfully powerful to use, and I agree that it wouldn't be ideal against the characters in RWBY seeing how speed is really dominant amongst Human/Faunus characters. Some might find this weapon convoluted with the extra blades and whatnot, and the sniper rifle kind of feels like it could use more clarification to match the details of the lance part, seeing how it's inevitably going to hit like a truck either way. But the overall flash of a more traditional heavy weapon and its potential with a vehicle has me giving you a thumbs up.

Whereas I thought Heavy Stinger was a weapon focused more on the melee than its ranged capabilities, Rosethorn would be the opposite in that it focuses more on its railgun than the blade. Ironically enough I don't have much to comment on this aside from that pointing out that the blade itself gets hot after firing the railgun makes the weapon's mechanisms flow together really well, and it's not blatantly overpowered. Dedicating heavy attacks you're sure you're going to hit seems to be what this weapon is going for, and I respect it for not branching away from that aspect too much. (Personally, this would be one of my go-to weapons if it were in a game.)

Pretty much the definition of a very niche weapon that still holds the potential to overshadow other weapons in its field. The thing I like about this the most more than anything is that you went ahead and described the surface of the mixture of technology and Dust usage within the weapon itself, and how it kicks up when the trigger mechanism is activated. Don't get me wrong on this though, I'm not just judging you for "you included a bunch of stuff that probably needs research before you use it on something," I'm just saying that it's clear you put thought on how to make the weapon function without making it something we've seen before. You also made it clear you made the weapon feel incomplete intentionally without making it seem like you just skipped over details, seeing how the weapon's unique reliance on Dust isn't an orthodox one. The efficiency of the weapon may be questionable due to it basically being a literal one-shot weapon, but it's one of my favorites because it's a strange, fragile little gun that has defined strengths and weaknesses despite its incomplete state. [sub][s]okay, maybe blowing up a bunch of shit in one shot isn't "little," but you get my point[/s][/sub]

When I first saw this I thought it was like some thing you'd find in a MOBA game, with the trend of hooks there and whatnot. It certainly feels like a hybrid weapon seeing how it has multiple mechanisms stuffed into the heavy thing, though the one thing I'm kind of miffed about is that it doesn't go into how the sword itself would contribute to the weapon's other mechanisms aside from just being a big blade. The other aspects of the weapon are good enough to prevent it from being a weapon that leaves something to be desired, though, seeing how there's details on what the weapon particularly excels at through its hooks and Gravity Dust-oriented far-range combat. And I didn't really think about ever putting hooks directly on a heavy weapon, but I can see crazy things happening when the user could be surrounded.

FINAL CREDITS GIVEN
[@Silvan Haven][@Lazo][@Azereiah][@Abillioncats][@Crimmy][@FlitterFaux] (All participants receive 2 Credits.
