He does however enjoy talking to others and making small talk, but keeps his relationships with most people relatively distant due to the nature of his work.

Quinque:
Taiki uses 48 mass produced quinque shaped as [url=https://m.imgur.com/x9m5U7I]daggers[/url] (They retain the deep purple-black of most quinque not the silver depicted) known as "Nanashi" (No Name) as his weapon of choice and he stores them under his suit coat in specially designed padded pockets that acts as sheaths. They can be used at both close and medium range as he possesses great skill at aiming the knives when thrown. Since he carries them under his suit coat and not in a suitcase it is harder for Ghouls to figure out he is a Dove.

Mr. Nakashima: Applicants name is Kobayashi Taiki, [i]'Small Forest, Large Radiance'[/i] interesting. Applicant is 18 years old, attended Mizuho Nōgei High School in Mizuho, Nishitama District, Tokyo. Relatively small school, well respected educational institution, the Academy has accepted multiple applicants from Nōgei in the past. Mr. Kobayashi Ranked 127 out of 203, below average standards(....) Captain of the boxing team, excelled in most school matches. Grades are acceptable although they do not exactly meet the marks that the Academy strives for in its students, athleticism is Mr. Kobayashi's strong point, for the record. His reasoning for applying is somewhere along the lines of 'Trapped at home' and 'Wanting to do something more' those are his words according to his application essay to be exact.

Mr. Nakashima: Born to a Kobayashi Ichio and Kobayashi Haruna in the Nishitama district. Kobayashi Ichio worked as a businessman for eight years before being let go in a company wide lay-off, Kobayashi Haruna has been a nurse for seventeen years. Family exhibits success in all controllable facets of life, interesting a family as smart as his would allow their son to slack so much in grades and limit his future. I'll need to take a note of that.

Mr. Nakashima: Good, let's get started then. There was a(...) accident in the 14th Ward a day ago. Four friends were killed in a motor vehicle accident with a city bus at 02:33 local standard time. 
[Mr. Nakashima sighs]
Mr. Nakashima: It just so happens that three of the four involved in the accident held seats on the coming years Academy class, which means that three Applicants on the Waiting List just got lucky, although the circumstances aren't exactly ideal for such to have happened. The applicants are Yumi Miharu, Saruwatari Chiaki, and Kobayashi Taiki. Letters will be sent to their residences shortly.

Mr. Taiho: This is Taiho Mikane, Vice Dean of the Ghoul Investigator Academy(...) taking a look at a student, Kobayashi Taiki, record indicates he has been pulling through in classes, if only barely. In danger of flunking more than one course but is riding by the seat of his pants mostly. He does excel in most athletic activities however, only if he shows any sort of interest in the activity itself.

Mr. Taiho: Mr. Kobayashi seems to be quite gifted in hand-to-hand practice, likely a result of his boxing background. Kobayashi also shows an apptitude for throwing weapons and but is horrendous with any larger close quarters weapons.

Mr. Taiho: For the record, the Nanashi quinque tests are progressing well. There have been a few(...) set backs with some of the candidates. Compatibility issues with combating other weapons has lead to a few [i]minor[/i] injuries, but Mr. Kobayashi seems to be excelling. He shows a keen aptitude in their use and has taken an almost obsessive mentality in his use of them. Mrs. Kaga has spoken to me that she has seen him practicing in the weapons training areas long after others have left. Interesting to say the least.

Special Class Investigator Misaki: Following the raid on 24th Ward, it is my recommendation that my partner, Rank 1 Investigator Kobayashi Taiki be promoted to First Class Investigator effective immediately. Kobayashi showed great prowess in close combat beneath the city streets, saving both myself and several other Investigators after being ambushed by a Rinkaku wielding Ghoul, despite the fact he uses what are essentially knives he held his own long enough for another Investigator to arrive and assist him in subjugating the Ghoul.
[Pause, Special Class Investigator Misaki can be heard breathing heavily]
Special Class Investigator Misaki: I(...) I'm recording this from a hospital bed, I lost my leg in the operation.
[Pause of twelve minutes, nurse can be heard checking up on Special Class Investigator Misaki twice during this period. Special Class Investigator Misaki does answer nurse.]
Special Class Investigator Misaki: There need to be more talented Investigators on the streets,  not Investigators that are only concerned with paperwork and promotions. I advise that Koabayashi be looked at for promotion to a Senior level Investigator and that he be assigned the (...) Junior Investigator I was to be assigned. Rank 1 Investigator Kobayashi is beyond prepared to lead his own Investigator Team even if his paperwork functionality may be severely lacking. I'd trust him with my life another time if given the chance.
