As the king of Atlantis, he has been taught military tactics as well as political decorum. Aquaman tends to present a strong and stoic exterior to all but his most trusted allies. To' those he lets in, Aquaman shows a more tender side. He is very compassionate to the needs of others, even if he doesn't always understand the issue due to cultural and class differences. With friends and allies, Aquaman is often the first to try and make a joke or start smiling and acting jovial, as he understands the stresses and pressures that have been thrust upon him and others like him and knows to take joy in the little things. Civilian Personality: King Orin's personality is very similar to his more public persona. Super abilities: -Skills: --Peak Human Swimmer: Aquaman is the best swimmer the Earth has ever seen --Trained Combatant: King Orin has been trained from birth to be a warrior, ready to lead his people into battle --Trained Tactician: Since he was old enough to understand battlefield theory, Orin has been learning the Art of War --Trained Diplomat: A King must not only know how to fight. King Orin has been trained in negotiation and diplomacy -Powers: --Peak Amphibious Atlantean: Though all Atlanteans have the ability to survive in both air and water, King Orin has perfected the ability, able to leave the sea for periods of up to two weeks before needing to return to his watery home. --Enhanced senses: All of Aquaman's senses have evolved to a higher degree than the average human's, granting him superior eyesight, hearing, and smell. --Superhuman strength: Due to both his adaptations to underwater life and the uncontrolled magic in his blood, Aquaman is capable of superhuman feats of strength. At current, he can easily lift and throw a tank or an airliner, though his upper limit has not been found yet. --Superhuman endurance: Due to both his adaptations to underwater life and the uncontrolled magic in his blood, Aquaman is much more durable than any other normal human. He can shrug off blows that would have obliterated a normal man, run incredibly fast for a much longer time than normal, and react to situations with a speed that even a cat would be jealous of. --Energy resistance: Though not fully immune, Aquaman is resistant to most forms of heat-based or energy attacks. --Marine telepathy: As the rightful ruler of Atlantis, Aquaman has the ability to communicate with underwater life-forms, beckoning them to his aid. He tends to simply ask the sea creatures for their help if they wish to lend it, though he is able to simply impose his will if he desires. Aquaman is also able to communicate in a limited sense with 'The Clear', a force which he believes binds the minds of all sea life. Using that connection, he has found himself able to slightly influence the portion of land-based creatures minds which remains connected to their primordial forms. --Standard Telepathy: As an extension of his natural ability to command sea life, Aquaman has developed his telepathy to the point where he can communicate with more evolved brains, such as other humans. He has the ability to make his thoughts heard by others as well as to pick up on surface-level thoughts in those without some sort of mental shielding. He does not have the ability to implant suggestions or commands into other people. --Mental Resistance: Having seen the power of telepathic commands and suggestions, Aquaman has taken steps to prevent himself from falling prey to a powerful telepath. He has conditioned his mind using training, technology, and hints of magic to defend himself from mental intrusions. It may not be enough to fully stop the most powerful of mind-readers, but it will certainly slow them down and hinder their abilities. --Water-based magic: Due to his connection to the leylines of the world, Aquaman has found himself in possession of new powers he doesn't fully understand. At present, he is able to redirect the currents of the sea to his whim and to exert some control over the waves, though only while he is submerged in water. -Gadgets: --Atlantean Science: Atlantas was the most advanced nation on Earth before their continent sank beneath the waves. Simply because they were living beneath the sea did not mean this advanced civilization didn't stop advancing. Aquaman has access to the host of Atlantean technology -Weapons: --Trident of Neptune: An ancient relic carried by the King of Atlantis, the Trident of Neptune has many powerful magical abilities. It can control the seas, creating and directing tidal waves or whirlpools or solid columns of water. It can manipulate storms, transform creatures into other forms, or make something invisible. Its power was only recently reactivated with the appointing of a new Wizard, and so Aquaman is still learning how to control it. --Trident of Poseidon: Another relic of the ancient Kings, the Trident of Poseidon has a similar set of powers to its twin, though at a smaller scale. It has the ability to manipulate water and storms to a lesser extent than the Trident of Neptune, but it can also create water out of nothing and fire bolts of lightning. Aquaman has taken to carrying this Trident until he feels more mastery over the Trident of Neptune. Civilian Occupation: King, Ruler of the Lost Continent of Atlantis, Regent of the City of Poseidonis, and Emperor of the Oceans of the Earth. Biography--------- Character History/Origin: Orin was born to a long line of Atlantean royalty. He grew up in the lap of luxury, in the heart of the most advanced city on the planet. Though he wanted for nothing, his parents and tutors strived hard to impress upon him from a young age the need to care for others and protect those who could not defend themselves. These lessons would prove to be necessary sooner than anyone though, as both the King and Queen of Atlantis were killed while diverting a menacing colony of sentient jellyfish away from the city. Thrust onto a throne at the young age of 14, Orin soon found himself overwhelmed by the burdens of leadership. The boy would often steal away from the city and spend time among the ruins of Atlantis. It was there that Orin began to discover a small spark of magical energy within himself. He began to map the leylines of his home, finding once-rich veins of magic that had been used once to advance their society, now long since dried up. Still, the exercise proved useful, as it gave young Orin a sense of what Atlantis once was, and gave him the time and space to decide what type of leader he would be. Now, many years later, King Orin sits the throne of seas comfortably. He has led his people into an age of stability and relative peace, a rarity for the undersea kingdom. Until the leylines burst, that is. Several months ago, magical energy flooded the sunken continent, rocking the kingdom to its foundations. Magical energy sprang up not just from the ground, but out of the people as well, producing new sorcerers, wizards, and witches in an instant. King Orin felt his own latent abilities awaken as well, granting him even more power over his realm. After meeting his his historians and magical experts, King Orin concluded that the Wizard had chosen a successor, someone to safeguard all magic on Earth. This had rejuvenated the leylines and led to the newfound energies. King Orin decided it would be prudent to meet with this new Wizard and make them aware of the existence of Atlantis, and perhaps to judge the situation of the surface world as well, to see if they were ready for the reveal of their undersea bretheren...
