The thin thread is meant to trap the enemies in like spiderwebs or something. So even if he missed cutting you with the knife he might not be throwing the knife to cut you, but to trap you in the threads. Err I was goin' to have Haseo employ some less than.....err gentle interrogation methods. So sometimes trapping them is better than injuring or out harming. I am uncertain if the thread can be part of the quinque or just the knives.
