Words are important! I get the gist that you want to create fictional heroes/icons/etcetera to be at the center of the game rather than follow the module of interpretation of historical myths. It’s good to discuss things like tone, themes, and so forth before going into a collaborative project. I still am not completely sure how the ‘game’ will function yet, so I should focus on understanding the game over defining sets and heroes. Though, how much do we, as a group, want to focus on the duels? I’ve seen several approaches to the genre where the out-of-duel interactions are more important as opposed to the “dueling” being the most principal important factor. Will this have a school setting or a tournament setting or somewhere in-between? What is the hook, what brings the protagonists together? Some key questions to look at.
