It is no surprise then that he eagerly accepted the offer of aging Maximilian Bolivar, president of Colombia, to back up any actions taken against Argentina as to reclaim lost land from a previous century. This had a similar effect as Germany's guarantee to support Austria before ww1 and encourage him to act as recklessly as possible. Troops and almost the entirety of Columbia's air force were thus sent by sea to Uruguay. To onlookers the idea was simple and brilliant: Uruguay was far closer to Argentina's capital than the district of Bolivia on Argentina's border, thus Colombia could insure the war would be fought on Buenos Aires's door step. Only, Colombia had an other idea. At the Villamontes airbase, daring Paracaidista divisions led by Simon Bolivar, son of the president and known dare devil, were embarking aboard the transport flottilla of planes at the disposition of the Republic in order to execute the true plan. These soldiers would drop behind enemy line to cut off the defensive force of the Argentinians, who expected only minor fighting on this front at the moment, so they could be overrun and in only a couple of days have the Colombian mechanized presidential guard cross to Salta, the north most Argentinian crossroad. From then on they could move unopposed to Cordoba supported by more paradrops deep within enemy territories themselves protected by their redeployed airforce and their aim would become evident: The encirclement and entire destruction of the main Argentinian army fighting in Uruguay. The forces Colombia had sent there were indeed just a bait, to attract and tie up Argentina's resources while the navy skirmishes with the Argentinians, aiming to limit their loses and keep the enemy busy rather than do real damages. The challenge had been given by Simon Bolivar to the troops under his command: March in Buenos Aires before the Germans march in Warsaw. ___________________________________ In other news, perhaps as an attempt to disguise the seriousness of the war, President Bolivar invites the armament companies of the world to compete next month in Bogota as the republic wishes to upgrade its FIGHTER PLANES and TANKS to new models. He especially welcomes any entry by the Germans, Japanese, French and American companies that are currently investing in Colombia. As the country is now in an official state of war, the president as declared the state of emergency and reactivated reservists to receive further training as well as began mobilizing the industry. The national medias, controlled by the state, have begun... 'tempering the truth' a little, the war thus being presented as an hostile act from Argentina on Uruguay and Colombia just maintaining the peace, Colombian diplomatic services will also push this narrative in foreign media and governments the best they can.
