In the city that never sleeps, some people find it challenging to pinpoint when the day ends and night begins. That is, for the people who aren't watching. Chelki was not one of those people however. She spent her entire day watching and watching and watching. Just paining for the sun the set to stretch her wings and fly in disguise of night. Technically, she could move about whenever she please but people might find it suspect if 'The Winged Lady' statue simply vanished mid-day. Even more so if she was seen walking about. At night when the park was closed to the public however, Chelki felt a bit more free to move about. Nights with cloudy skies like tonights were easily her favourite. "Another day done, thank god." Chelki lamented to herself changing from her statued pose--wings folded and hands pressed together neatly as if in prayer. Her shoulders cracking as she stretched them out, her wings generating a gust of air as she opened them. Felt good to be alive again. With a quick shake of her tail Chelki took to the sky going high above the clouds where she basked at the feeling of the wind in her hair. Her favourite part of the otherwise mundane routine that was her life. CRACK "What was th-" Chelki didn't even finish her sentence when she felt a sharp pain in her left wing. Looking over she saw blood creeping out. Down below she heard people screaming and sirens gathering. "A gun?" Chelki whispered as her vision got blurry and she began sink to the ground, landing in a cramped alleyway amongst some garbage. There's no way anyone could've seen her, she was perfectly hidden. Must've just been a stray bullet from some petty human squabble. Just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
