[@TheUnknowable] I'm a geek too, so I dig doing this kind of research; based off of James Dewar's "Sur la solidification de l'hydrogène" a solid form of hydrogen can be achieved by lowering it's temperature to below 14.01K (-259C or -434.2F). So while metallic hydrogen using Helium gas wouldn't be possible based of IRL physics, solid hydrogen would be. I just figured it'd be more interesting to read about some dude in a gas mask making metallic hydrogen using a combination of gases rather than simple solid hydrogen, you feel?
