Skills
Major

Born of the subterranean Dwarves have an innate affinity for life beneath the ground. Thriving in fire light of their forges, digging deep and deep into their mines, the dungeon delver is an important member of any mining company. Spending so much time at the forefront of the mining expedition and experiences in the deeper darkness has allowed for a greater familiarity with that world.
Years of exploring dark tunnels and hidden passageways inhabited by unknown denizens of the darkest reaches of the subterranean has allowed Eldarian an opportunity to become better attuned to identifying the potential for traps in tunnels and other dangerous locations. This familiarity with traps, their typical locations and how they regularly work has allowed Eldarian to save countless lives other than his own.
Years spent toiling away in the mines a dwarf learns a thing or two about the rocks that they obliterate. An ability to know real from false, tooled from raw, and natural to reconstructed. Eldarian has the uncanny ability to find ease in identifying unusual stoneworks, such as sliding walls, stonework traps, new construction (even when built to match the old), unsafe stone surfaces, shaky stone ceilings, and the like. This may also include something that is not stone but disguised to look as if stone. Similarly, Eldarian can intuit depth, sensing his approximate depth underground as naturally as a human can sense which way is up.
Minor

While dwarves grow to only the fraction of a man’s full height their mass is relatively the same. However, spending so much time squeezing through tight corridors and sliding beneath loose boulders has allowed Eldarian the opportunity to train his body to reduce his size in order to better maneuver in tight spots.

Strengths

Dwarves have the innate ability to see better in the dark - what many scholars refer to as “dark vision.” However, with great time spent in greater darkness Eldarian’s eyes have become even more focused in the subterranean allowing him to see even further in the darkness than his dwarf eyes might otherwise allow.
Typically, dwarves approach their work with such great fervor and dedication that it isn’t long before they climb the ladder of tradesmanship from apprentice to journeyman and finally mastercraftsmen. Eldarian is no different. He has been delving the depths for decades and subsequently achieved a level of skill mastery that goes beyond the average practitioner. Eldarian is capable of exploiting his skills in rain or shine, beaten or bruised, or even when staring down the gullet of a terrifying dragon. The confidence he holds in his ability to perform knows no bounds.
While dwarves dark vision and other sense are typically fine tuned to life spent in the subterranean, they can always be improved upon. However, when a dwarf spends extended periods of time in the deepest reaches of the underdark those senses most important such as sight, smell, and hearing become even more powerful, more finely tuned than ever imaginable. Spending decades on his own in roles that strictly relied on the subtle dripping of water echoing through a cave system or the minute differences in air stagnation through a newly discovered ruin has altered his sense to near arcane proportions. Eldarian’s senses are more finely tuned than even the abnormally acute.
Weaknesses:

While all races have their inherent disabilities whether they lack a certain level of intelligence or they maintain small and supple frames, dwarves too have their shortcomings. While typically a hardy people, dwarves are innately short and Eldarian is no different. While amongst his own people this dwarf is quite average, amongst the surface dwellers he leaves something to be desired in the department of height. Standing at only four feet four inches high he is literally a dwarf amongst men.
Arrogant, belligerent, stubborn, and overly critical. These are just a few words to describe a typical encounter with Eldarian Ulrich. There are many reasons as to why Eldarian choose the life of a dungeon delver and it was not merely because he had an innate talent for exploration or a great sense of direction both of which were learned traits rather than something he was born with. Often found double fisting tankards of grog, Eldarian is anything but easy to get along with. Difficult to prove wrong. Easily agitated. Quick to get physical. And even quicker to judge with a lense of prejudice. Eldarian is most definitely not fit for all company.
