Name: Oao (Pronounced "Oh-Ow"). Gender: None. Appearance: Oao has many forms for it wears the darkness around it, shaping it as both an extension of it's body and a cover to conceal itself within. It's most familiar darkness shape is that of a tall willowy humanoid, lithe with a faintly hourglass shape to it. It's arms are almost as long as it's body is and possesses a pair of exceedingly long yet thin hands. It's face is a completely blank slate sitting underneath a mass of long wispy tendrils of darkness serving as what could be assumed to be hair. It's legs end in a single trunk that sprawls out at the ankle level with several dark roots that pull it forward as a means of locomotion. It's true form is that of an emaciated genderless little humanoid, a rather pathetic creature. It's skin is whiter than snow and it's no larger than a human child though it may appear smaller as it tends to remain hunched forward. It's got bony arms with two twig-like fingers and an only slightly thicker thumb. Despite being narrow little bones called finger they are long enough to reach around the entirety of an adult human's head. It's feet are normal sized for a human though they only possess two little claw like toes. It's face is gaunt and narrow with thin lips and a mouth full of needle fine teeth. Shorter sets of these teeth run all the way down into it's throat, allowing it to chew what it swallows all the way down. It's got shallow cheeks with eyes twice the size of a human's. It's eyes are completely black save two small points of light that seem to serve as it's pupils. Oao has long straight silky jet black hair that appears very well groomed, something to be envied by many with long dark hair were they to discover it. It speaks with an often trembling voice. It's sound is a soft, light pitch which sounds closer to a feminine sound than a masculine sound. Personality: Many are frightened of the dark. What many do not realize is that the dark is probably more afraid of them. Chiefest of Oao's feelings is the sense of dread that hangs over it every second of every hour of every night and day. It hides in the darkness that it is to conceal itself, hiding away it's true form so that none may look upon it. The very idea of eyes scanning it's nude body gives it veritable panic attacks. Were anyone to see it's true form that would send it into the throes of truest terror. It enjoys peace, silence and solitude most. It detests the presence of others, especially the company of those with eyes but it dislikes none more than those who would bring light with them. Not only does light cut away at the extensions of it's very being but it also presents a risk of piercing it's disguise and revealing it for who it really is. As such Oao tries to act menacing to scare people off but it is simply a facade. It holds little love for most. The last person it cared for was murdered by the god of war during the civil war. It does hold some sympathy for the meek and the scared however. The darkness can serve as a sanctuary to those who do not want to be seen, who want to be hidden as Oao is. It can be quite nice when it's paranoia isn't acting up but those are rare instances. Where once it lived in relative calm while the King of the Gods was still alive now that he's dead it is dreading the possibilities of what may come. Major Domain: Darkness. Minor Domains: Fear & The Hidden. Weaknesses: - It's crippling fear of being seen. - Light. - Daytime. - It's solitude. - A low self-esteem. - No subjects in it's direct service. - Color blindness. Your Avatar: Mallogh (Pronounced Mal-Low). This creature is a mass of ink black slime which assumes a vaguely humanoid shape. This beast fills an entire cavern with it's sheer amount of volume, a cavern large enough to house the tallest of castles with ease. It's fluid mass is saturated with the power of darkness, the very power that gives it it's color or perhaps lack of color. The slime of this creature eats away at all organic matter, reducing it to nothing in a matter of minutes. Due to the dark power within it not only does it eat away at all organic matter trapped inside but in the case of animate beings it also eats away at their minds and souls, consuming all until nothing of the creature remains. Even creatures made of rock are vulnerable to Mallogh if they possess a mind or a soul. To top it all off Mallogh can split off smaller slimes from it's form to act independently from it. Stance: Oao wants to avoid conflict but has much reservation in regards to surrendering it's Center of Power. Loyalty During the Rebellion: Oao sided with the king though ultimately it refrained from fighting and simply hid. Center of Power: The Void Pearl - This item is a perfectly spherical gem no larger than a ping-pong ball. It is a color of black so deep it is like staring into the infinite abyss of space itself. Within the pearl true darkness exists. _ Relations: God of the Sun - The greatest threat to Oao. Avoid at all cost. God of Knowledge - It seeks to know what is hidden. God of Loss and Pain - Oao knows the pains of crippling fear well. Oao understands him to an extent but will still avoid him for fear of being seen. (Subject to Updates.) _ Powers: Oao has the ability to shape darkness into matter in all forms and physical states. It can freely choose both the shape and the material properties of it's dark creations with the only limits being a max cap on volume and available darkness. Oao can only use as much darkness as is available within a five kilometer radius of itself. Even if Oao is in an open space completely void of light it's maximum volume is that of a sphere that is ten kilometers in diameter. When Oao extracts mass from darkness it's not removing the darkness itself, something that would result in illuminating the space absent of darkness, but rather it extracts it's essence. Extracting the essence of darkness does not change it physically but it removes all other aspects of the darkness. Those who would look upon empty darkness would feel no emotional response that normally come with staring into the darkness. Magically empty darkness is inert and serves no purpose to those who would wish to draw upon it's power. Darkness does not remain empty however. It takes roughly a week for darkness to return to normal. Despite the physical properties of the darkness it can effect all beings regardless of their state of tangibility. In addition while Oao can submerge in darkness to instantly travel it can only travel to sections of darkness that are connected to the darkness it goes inside. Another feature is that Oao can extend it's senses and voice into the dark masses it creates. _ Regardless of whatever properties Oao grants to the darkness it shapes it all shares the same weakness: Light. The first effect light has on dark mass is that it reduces it's density in proportion to the intensity of the light. A weak light would only subtly weaken a dark object however things like the sun and other powerful sources of light would practically reduce the darkness into a gaseous state. This effect only applies to all darkness in the path of the light so a beam of light might weaken the portion of darkness it is trying to travel through however the rest will remain unaltered. The effect of the change in density is immediate upon recieving light. The results of this effect end just as immediately when the light no longer touches the darkness. The second effect light has on dark mass is that it will slowly burn away the darkness, causing small slivers of it to flake away into nothingness. It would take approximately a full day to completely disintegrate Oao's dark mass at full volume. Like the first effect this effect only applies to portions of darkness caught in the path of light. _ Another power of Oao's is it's ability to infuse it's creations with the Essence of Fear. The Essence of Fear causes those who gaze upon the creation infused with it to become filled with primal terror, driving all but the most stalwart of beings to flee for their lives and leaving those who overcome this almost paralyzed with fear. Even gods and those with magical and/or psychic mental protections are given pause by the sheer fright simply seeing something with the Essence of Fear instills. This effect only applies to those who can see the creation infused with the Essence of Fear. Those who cannot see it are safe from the effect. _ Lastly, Oao's ability to hide has aspects of both divine magic and sheer skill. Oao possesses a natural talent for hiding and has honed this skill over the span of it's lifetime, developing both it's knowledge of stealth and it's muscle memory to the point where hiding for it is as natural as breathing. Few beings, if any, are as skilled at hiding as Oao is. On top of that it's divine connection to The Hidden allow it to bar any attempt to scry or detect Oao's location using magic, preventing those using said magic from perceiving it. This includes both regular and divine magic. Oao can instill this effect onto any object smaller than a castle though this requires Oao to be physically present to perform this. The effect is suppressed if Oao itself is ever exposed to divine light or natural sunlight. While suppressed not only is both Oao and all items hidden by Oao no longer hidden but they are also made obvious to all who look upon them. These effects resume the moment Oao is no longer touched by either forms of light. Godly Equipment: None. Oao both is and wears darkness from which it shapes everything it owns. Demi Gods: None. Name of your Land: The underground. Lands: Oao's land is deep beneath the earth. It is a series of massive interconnecting caverns in the midst of a network of tunnels. In these caverns for flora there exist forests of bioluminescent mushrooms and varieties of cave moss. The local fauna mostly consist of bats, worms and other critters that call the depths of the earth home. People: Down in the underground amidst the mushroom forests there live the race of humanoid beings which call themselves "Od". They are about three quarters the height of humans and are uniformly skinny due to their limited diet. Their skin lacks any pigmentation since they have never seen the light of day, leaving them as pale as snow. Their hair is as black as jet and they tend to have no facial hair to speak of. They have no noses and their eyes are four times larger than a humans. They have got big round irides which allow them to take in even the smallest amount of light available. They communicate largely through high pitched squeaks. Despite their thin frames they are decently strong and can climb with fair ease, possessing small claws at the ends of their fingers which allow them to grip onto stone better. Culture: They definitely know that their people live on a razor's edge. With a mind to mysticism they conduct their lives always with a nod to the knowledge that the caverns are a very unforgiving place. Despite that understanding they live life as they must, meekly gathering what they need to survive. They live in the glowing mushroom forests in shanties cobbled together from faintly glowing cobalt blue stones. The lights tend to keep most predators out which is why they tend to stay in the forests when they can. They mostly eat moss though they do sometimes feast upon the occasional bat. A large part of their life revolves around the use of pigments and magical salves to conduct their shamanistic rituals. Their most important ritual occurs annually, a major event where their head alchemist will set out and ritualistically repaint the yellow wards which turn the largest predators of the underground away. Technology: The Od are rather primitive in most forms of tech but are very knowledgeable in alchemy and minerals. In addition they also have access to some of the rarest stones in the world as they live deep where even scarce veins can be found. Theirs is a tribal hunter/gatherer society. Capital: The main capital of the Ods is a vast mushroom forest called "It". This is their word for home, the other settlements of theirs having names that derive from that one name. It is a helter-skelter shanty build from sheets of metal forged using rock-boring worm saliva to melt and shape the ores. Most of their homes range from basic huts to alchemy labs. Beings: Aside from the wildlife the most numerous species to occupy the underground is a race of disputably intelligent slime beings. These slimes are the byproducts of Oao's use of dark mass, the essence leaking and forming ink black blobs. As these continue to grow and multiply however they begin to exhibit qualities of their deity. The greatest of these slimes is Oao's own avatar, Mallogh. History: After Oao tore itself from Ephra he hid it away in his basement since it wasn't like his other creations. He deemed it necessary to live but felt it was too horrible a creature to let shape the lands below. Despite being necessary as a counter-balance to light given the way it had come to be he disliked it, keeping it hidden from all the other gods and constantly reminding it that it was a mistake that he was showing mercy to by even letting it live. As Ephra was the only thing it knew for so long it was dependent on him, becoming emotionally attached despite his abuses. As the civil war came to a close with the final showdown between Ephra and War the resulting carnage twinned with Ephra's disappearance led to Oao escaping the basement it once called home, fleeing inside a large amorphous sphere of darkness to the world where it retreated into a nearby cave and further down into the deep below where the most darkness was present. Ever since then Oao's made the underground it's home, An old deity but a relative newcomer to the world.
