Or badly hurt, for that matter. That was good, Nate figured - wouldn't exactly have looked good if he'd been seen at a big (probably illegal) party where someone had died. And her dying would have been shitty, on top of that. But he couldn't really see her, not in this light and it wasn't exactly like he could've grabbed his own phone and shone a light down without risking dropping it or losing his footing. "Sure, I can help but uh-" Before Nate could get another word in, he saw a bright light emit from what could've only been her phone and caught a better glimpse of her silhouette. He was about to lean further in to get a closer look, only to wince as he heard a gasp escape the girl's throat and the light from her phone suddenly turned upwards, painfully dazzling him in the process. Nate squinted and heard a scream, then saw Kim disappearing beyond where he could see her through the hatch - and for a moment he saw a dark red hue trailing along where she'd been. Rust? Blood?. "What the fuck?" he mumbled, then decided to act fast - it wasn't that far of a drop and if she'd been able to get up and run he would've been fine. "Hey, your friend's screaming again!" Nate called back in the direction of the others, "I'm gonna check on her and make sure she doesn't take anymore shrooms!" Then swung one leg over the ledge of the hatch, then the other, his centre of balance shifted backwards with a palm on each side of the ledge, then shifted himself forward to drop down as flat as he could. A sudden, rushing sensation tugged at his stomach, as though it was being pulled upwards into his lungs and the floorboards that had been so close seemed to stretch on for metres. Or miles? It threw his concentration for just a second and so when he felt the wood making contact with the soles of his shoes it was all he could do not to fall forward on his face. Instead, he felt a sharp pang ripple upwards from the balls of his feet to his knees, the disorienting glare of the light causing him to fall backwards as his body squatted to let his knees absorb the impact. So instead, he'd fell flat on his ass. Nate groaned, momentarily cursing his altruism, then pressed a palm against the floorboards to stand, casting his gaze around the dark interior to search for where Kim was, casting out a sarcastic remark, "Fuck, what shrooms did you take?" Strangely enough, there was no sign of the trail of red she'd left behind.
