I'd say it turns her into more of a glass cannon, though she has a defensive barrier that can withstand a dragon slave.
And, when she casts a spell she is automatically protected from spells of that level and below, so as long as she had started casting the spell, she would be protected from energy attacks.  Maybe not physical attacks, but that's more of a weakness that being broken.
