.....from so long ago. It's not important that I find it but it bothers me when I can't remember something or find it eventually on the internet. Maybe you guys can help me out here, though I'm not expecting much.

Way back in 2002-2003 (I think) I discovered that roleplaying was a thing and that roleplaying online was more than 'cybersex' (or whatever they were calling it at the time.) There were a bunch of places to try but I didn't want to do a play-by-post I wanted to go to a chatroom. I found a place that did both. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the site and it could very well have been dead for years now. To top it off I remember so little that any searches for the place result in the same 3 places, one of them being here. All I remember about the place is that it had rather loose rules for character creation and that it was set in a magical tavern that I'm sure was connected to many different dimensions (universes, realities, and/or whatever.) I remember the tavern simply being called The Tavern and there was at least one moderator with an overpowered character to keep the peace.

The only event I can remember in the tavern involved by an elf who was played by someone who called themselves Pennywise. (After the band not the clown) If I remember the elf's backstory correctly he was from a race of elves sustained themselves off a magical tree. At some point the tree was destroyed and most, if not all, the others had died. Without the tree to provide his magical nourishment he became something of a 'magic junkie' begging others to let him drain them or an object of some magic. Every time I got on he was there being a sad pathetic character. One day I entered the tavern and there were people laying broken on the floor dead or dying and there constant cries for help to either help the injured or stop the horror that caused the mess. Apparently the elf had fed on so much magic that he became super powered. He was to strong, fast, and durable to defeat in physical combat and any magic attack thrown at him would only make him stronger. I don't know how that event got solved but that is how I remember it going down.
