Well they aren't certain, my friends. And if they are indeed certain, then they do not refer to reality." What does a magic key, eccentric townsfolk, an evil book, an immortal, shady government agents, amphibians, a mad scientist, old seafood, and an ancient cult have in common? The sleepy seaside town of Innsmouth of course. See, it all started with the mysterious disappearance of one Suzanne "Suzie" Moore. Straight-A student. Captain of the high school cheer leading squad. Most popular girl at school. Voted most likely to be kidnapped and probably murdered. The police couldn't find any trace of her except for a strange puddle of green water by her bedside on the night she disappeared. Things have only gotten stranger since. Some of the townsfolk have accused their neighbors of having... changed. Not in terms of their physical appearances but their mannerisms. Some have become shut-ins while others display weird erratic behaviors, even violent tendencies. It's like an "invasion of body snatchers," claimed fisherman and local town conspiracy theorist, Dan Mulberry. But maybe—just maybe—he isn't simply blowing smoke with these claims. Now a journalist has arrived to investigate the abundant curiosities that plague this once quiet town in hopes of uncovering the truth of it all. But this is not a story of simply one person. This town will soon be visited by all manners of interesting characters whose stories will inexplicably intertwined with one another. And all of these characters playing their respective roles will contribute to solving the most important mystery of them all: what the hell happened to Suzie Moore? But take heed, because something sinister writhes beneath, awaiting the end to a long slumber...

Welcome recruits. Good luck and may God have mercy on your souls.

-Rules-

1. All RPG site rules apply.
2. All rules of roleplaying etiquette apply.
3. As the GM, I have the final say in any and all decisions regarding this RP. Any disputes with my ruling can be done so via PM if done in a polite and reasonable manner.
4. Any disputes between players should be resolved through PM.
5. I won't impose any rules about how much or how frequently you should post because of things like school, work, etc. But if you're signing up, make sure you're serious about roleplaying this.
6. Wait a few posts before posting again. Give other people the chance to catch up.
7. If you can't be active for a prolonged period of time, make sure to inform me via the OOC or PM.
8. I require the minimum posting standard of the Casual Roleplay section as determined by the site rules.
9. Every player is limited to one character (excluding me) as of now. If you require an exception to this rule, discuss it with me first.
10. The only restricted curse word is "Fuck". Everything else is fair game. Keep romance to a PG-13 level. However, you can be pretty liberal with the use of blood and gore.
11. Post your CS in the OOC first for my review and, once accepted, move the sheet over to the Characters tab. From her parents, Richard and Elizabeth Moore, to the students and faculty of Innsmouth High School, to the local sheriff department, to us here at the CIA, and even to other third parties. Yes, what are the circumstances of her mysterious disappearance? And that is what we are tasking you with finding out, recruits. From field agent to desk jockey, you all are a part of this now. It's been approximately three weeks since Ms. Moore's disappearance so the trail may prove difficult to pick up. Concern yourself not so much with finding the girl but with the details of her disappearance and document everything you find. Your destination: Innsmouth, Massachusetts in the New England region of the US eastern seaboard. Her father, Richard, is the general manager in charge of three fisheries belonging to the wealthy Marsh family while her mother, Elizabeth, is one of the many corporate lawyers the Marsh Fishing Company employs. Suzie, herself, is described by her fellow students and even some of the faculty as the "most popular girl in school." Coincidentally, she was also captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. But in spite of it all, Suzie was never one to let her ego get the better of her. She was seen as kind and compassionate; a person who was involved in school and community affairs in hopes of making Innsmouth a better place to live for all. She often encouraged other students from all creeds and walks of life to become involved in the community as well. As a senior, this school year would be her last at Innsmouth High School. After which, she had a scholarship for a full ride to the prestigious Miskatonic University in Arkham where she would major in biochemistry. In her love life, she had two boyfriends. At the age of 15, she had a brief fling with one Zachary Nato, now an armed security officer for Innsmouth Security Solutions. Their split was not amicable and Zach began to stalk her for some time before it ended in his arrest. Two years later, she met Quincy Knight, current captain of the school's football team. Whatever she saw in him caused her to fall in love but some suspected that Quincy may not have felt the same way and that he was simply dating her to keep up appearances. Finally, while not a direct figure in her life, Gwyn Thatcher is also someone to be mindful of. Involved in a case some years back, Mr. Thatcher was found surrounded by the bodies of his friends, all of whom were brutally devoured of all flesh. It took a forensics team to identify the corpses. After transferring to Innsmouth, Gwyn was labelled a "freak" and "creep" by many of the students. It only worsened when he was one day discovered by Quincy and other students to be taking secretive photographs of Suzie during her cheer practice. An altercation between the two parties ended with Gwyn howling and fleeing the scene. Suzie, herself, didn't make a big deal out of the situation and, although she never once talked to Gwyn, she would flash him a friendly smile whenever they pass each other. Ms. Moore would disappear a few weeks later and the ire of suspicion would naturally fall on Gwyn. Now while the circumstances of her disappearance indicates something beyond a simple kidnapping case as past CIA records may show, still, it is best to keep an eye on these three young men if, for nothing else, to clear their involvement in this case.

The Day of Suzie's Disappearance

July 30[sup]th[/sup], 2018: Suzanne Moore began her day as she began most days—shower, hot breakfast, brushing her teeth, then it was off to school with her, as described by her mother, Elizabeth. She seemed to have been in good spirits as she described to her parents how proud she felt about the 10-page essay she had finished for English class regarding Victorian-era literature. At school she met up with her boyfriend, Quincy, and some of their mutual friends. They hung around for some time before classes started. It was standard affair until her fifth period, Physics, where her usual lab partner was absent for the day and she was paired up with Ms. Kanna Saitou who she had rarely talked to before, but they seemed friendly enough to each other during that period. After classes, she headed to cheer practice with her friends on the same outdoor field as football practice; the football players had gathered there earlier. On her way to the gym, she and her friends passed by Mr. Gwyn Thatcher. Suzie's friends looked at the young man with disgust and slight fear but Suzie gave him a friendly smile as she had done before to let him know that she felt no animosity towards him even after the incident involving him photographing her during cheer practice. After practice, Suzie let her boyfriend, Quincy, know that she would be heading home straight away as she suddenly felt unwell. That was the last time Quincy and their mutual friends saw Ms. Moore as far as we know. Once home, Suzie was greeted by her mother who took off of work early that day. She complained to her mother about feeling unwell and went upstairs to her room. Her mother would bring up a bowl of chicken noodle soup to which Suzie, behind her locked door, refused to eat and assured her mother that all she needed was some rest. Her mother proceeded to eat the bowl of soup while sitting on the couch watching reruns of a black-and-white comedy show. Suzie's father, Richard, arrived home from work by 10 PM. They discussed Suzie's condition to which Richard echoed Suzie's own sentiments of "all she needs is some rest." The two went to bed by 11:15 PM. At approximately 3:30 AM, Richard and Elizabeth Moore were woken by the loud sound of glass breaking. Richard grabbed a baseball bat and, with a night lamp-wielding Elizabeth in tow, cautiously searched the first floor of their house, only to find nothing out of the ordinary. Fearing the worse, they rush up the stairs to Suzie's room and banged loudly on the door whilst calling their daughter's name, receiving no answer in return. Richard kicked the door open and the pair are greeted with a most horrific sight: their daughter is missing and one of the two windows in her room was completely shattered; by her bedside is a puddle of unidentifiable green liquid. Sheriff Perry Arthur, Deputy Conan Spencer, and Deputy Charlie Doyle arrived on the scene by 3:55 AM after receiving a call from Mrs. Moore. After taking the parents' accounts and securing the crime scene, Sheriff Arthur called in an out-of-town forensics team to take a sample of the unusual green water for further investigation. Their immediate investigation, however, turned up nothing. No tracks, no blood, no fingerprints—not even those of Suzie's, even on the things in her room. It's as if someone had taken the time to wipe everything down. The sheriff and his deputies promised Suzie's parents that they would do everything in their power to find their missing daughter. It has been approximately three weeks since then.

Green Water

The mysterious green liquid substance found at the crime scene has yet to be identified by the forensics team called in by the Innsmouth Sheriff Department. The crime scene, itself, is still quarantined but the Moores are still allowed to stay in their home as long as they followed proper procedure and avoid contact with the unknown substance. We here at the CIA have gathered our own sample of the substance thanks to Agent Alexander Ophidian who was tasked to collect a sample discreetly and send it to our lab. From our findings—which, keep in mind, is still ongoing—we've discovered that this water is home to hundreds of thousands of malignant microorganisms with a taste for rotted flesh. These organisms can break down 1 kg of meat in as little as a day. And their growth rate is terrifying. We cannot effectively freeze them but exposing them to high temperatures seem to put the organisms in a state of animated suspension, turning their liquid medium into an ooze-like state that smells of a combination of sea water, kelp, and dead fish. Fascinating really. We will continue our research and see what else we can learn from this incredible discovery.

-Persons of Particular Interest-
*Blank sheets are to be filed by authorized CIA personnel only.*
*You can format the sheet however you'd like as long as it has all the necessary information.* Subject #: (Random 8-digit number here) Threat Level: ("⛥" indicates threat level. 5 maximum for only the most dangerous of threats.
