Update: The OOC/IC is up: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/19063/posts/ooc --- Before I start, I need to clarify a few things. Precipice of War, the RP in question, is an RP that has already been made. In fact it's been going for years and has a big lore to back it up. It simply needs to get moved here from another forum (which is a lot harder than it sounds), and this isn't as much an interest-check for a potential RP as much as it is us trying to get some new players on board and ready for when we do move it here (which should be soon). We have another interest-check in the Nation RP section. Why? Well, because it's a Nation RP. But the way Precipice of War is played is a lot different from the way I've seen people play Nation roleplays here in the RPGuild, which is why I felt it was necessary to put an interest-check here too. Precipice of War is a Nation RP. As in, you control nations. But it's not done like I've seen it done here. It's done in a way that emphasizes character focus. It's hard to explain, but basically.. it's like a HUGE character-based roleplay. You control a lot of characters who are part of the nation you play. Your "main" character is the leader of your nation, but you also play as other people who are part of the government. Or even just civilians. Wars are usually played through the perspective of a solider fighting it, for example. It's not "Country A invades Country B". It's you telling a story through the eyes of developed-characters affiliated to your nation. To help you better understand, here's a post from Precipice of War. The post goes over events that occurred during a war, but it's played through the eyes of a character named Hassan. Hassan is a well-developed character, and that post shows some of what he has been through in the past. And, as you can see, the post is very character-oriented. But Precipice of War is a Nation RP. It's played kinda like a character-based RP, but it's still a Nation RP. Think of it as a really big character-based RP where you control many characters, each with their own personalities, duties and stories. But you also control one that just so happens to run a nation (your "main" character). The reason I feel it so necessary to explain this, is because from what I've seen, Nation roleplays are played very differently here. They don't seem very character-based. They seem to deal more with administrative duties, and very little with actually developing characters and exploring their lives outside of sending letters to other nations or whatever. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with playing a Nation roleplay that way, but I'm saying that's not how Precipice of War plays. And because Precipice of War plays so much like character-based roleplays, I felt I needed to put an interest-check here to get the attention of people who might otherwise not come across the interest-check in the Nation RP section. Because, frankly, it's not getting much interest there, and I feel a lot of it has to do with the fact that Nation roleplays simply aren't very popular, probably because most people here seem to prefer character-based roleplays. So yeah. Precipice of War is a nation RP, but it's not played like a strategy game. It's played like a character-based RP. We all control a nation and tell its story through the use of many characters. Anyway, enough rambling. You can read about what the RP more-or-less is in the "main" interest-check, here. Thanks, homies.
