Ever since the attack on Konoha, an aura of sadness afflicted the village. Many innocents lose their lives that day, including some that Kaba personally knew. Most hurtful was the loss of their Hokage. The fact that the Hokage was killed effected Kaba in a way that made him feel almost personally responsible. He felt as if he and his colleagues should have done a better job in protecting Konoha and its innocent inhabitants; especially their prideful leader. He knew he would need to now push his limits. The perpetrators had successfully escaped after initiating turmoil throughout the shinobi world. Kaba knew it certainly would not be the last time he would face the strange foes. He wanted to use the recent failure as fuel for future growth for the sake of his clan, and for the sake of Konoha. But this newfound motivation wouldn't last long. To everyone's surprise a figure stood and revealed himself before everyone. The man was eerily similar to their fallen Hokage, and led Kaba to believe that they were possibly being toyed with. What was even more surprising was that the man suddenly began to read the names of the newly promoted Jounin. Kaba intently waited for his name to be uttered, but it was not. Once Shinko seemingly revealed the last shinobi to be promoted, the rest of his words became a jumbled mess to Kaba. The barrier shinobi's head dropped, and his eyes were now burning a hole in his lap. After convincing himself to be motivated to push himself, the news brought him crashing back down. Unfortunately, he had been sitting next to his grandfather, Yagura Joukaku, the current head of the clan. Kaba didn't even have to move his head or eyes to know that the asshole was looking down upon him. He had failed again, and now he possibly had lost his chance to take over his clan and change it's outlook. Once the activities were complete, Kaba did not head home. He disappeared from the area almost instantly and isolated himself. A sweeping darkness entered his body, and his mood formed into somewhat of a depressed one. He had trained intensely for the exams but still ultimately failed. At this point, Kaba questioned if he should continue to practice as a shinobi... He attempted to take on a few easy missions to get out of his funk, but nothing worked. He barely trained since the revelation of his failure and was closer than ever to just quitting and leaving the village altogether. To his shock, his grandfather hadn't said one word to him since that day. In fact, Kaba barely saw the man despite the fact they were often near each other. However, he wouldn't complain. He almost enjoyed his new antisocial life and was growing more comfortable with being alone as the days passed. At that moment, Kaba sat upright in his bed reading a book detailing specialized ninjutsu, particularly Jikukan Ninjutsu, something he was quite interested in which was ironic, considering he had barely trained to hone his own jutsu in weeks. As he flipped a page, a figure appeared seemingly out of thin air within his room. It was the same man who revealed himself at the Hokage's funeral. As he noticed who it was, Kaba immediately exited his bed to pay proper respects to his new Hokage. The man exuded a similar presence to the previous Leader of the Leaf but there was an obvious difference. As Shinko revealed why he was suddenly standing before Kaba, the boy's eyes widened with shock. He was being sent to Kumogakure as a part of a special forces unit due to his interaction and experience with the foes who ravaged Konoha. The news didn't completely knock him out of his funk but he was honored to be given the chance. Maybe he would encounter the evil shinobi once more and gain a chance to exercise his demons? A part of him secretly hoped not. Even so, Kaba wasted no time bowing to the Hokage before his clone dispersed. "Certainly, Lord Hokage. Thank you." Kaba began to gather his supplies and change into his usual gear. Just as he was finishing, Kiku appeared at his residence to retrieve him for the mission ahead. She was another fellow lead shinobi he had classes with but never interacted with enough to known much about. However, he was sure they'd become acquainted soon, as well as the other two that he now found himself teamed up with. In another moment, the group was at the gate and Kaba was ready to depart. He had barely said anything to the other 3, still in a gloomy mood but he would try his best to be a great comrade so that they succeed by any means. The barrier-nin stood waiting for the Kumo native to lead the way.
