Her hair is the colour of beaten gold and falls to about the small of her back. Typically it is kept messy and windswept. Her skin is milky white and she is frequently described as having an ethereal or otherworldly look to her. Her eyes are a brownish amber hue normally. While empowered by the Sun her hair seems to glow brightly and almost ignite. Her eyes glaze over with a bright light and her hands take on a bright white aura. Personality: Neaera is a friendly and kindhearted, if naive, girl. She loves to make friends and take part in new activities. This is, of course, a double-edged sword. She is entirely too trusting and innocent and it has been the bane of her parents' lives as well as her crimefighting career. She isn't exactly dumb, she just believes that no-one is truly evil and is easily swayed to follow and take part in particularly charismatic villain's schemes. If one manages to admit defeat and appeal to her merciful nature she is quick to forgive and forget. It takes a very heinous crime for her to believe someone is past redemption. She idealises the Saints and would love nothing more than to have a seat at their table or even a chance at a place in their ranks. Backstory: Born into a middle-class family who soon found themselves on hard times, her parents worked hard to shelter their only daughter from the harshness of the outside world and to their unfortunate circumstances (some would say too much.) As a result Neaera grew up with a fairly simplistic view of the world's complex mix of morality. She views most things as inherently good and those she sees as evil she believes can be redeemed through sheer will or some other vague concept. It wasn't all bad however, as she can find wonder in the smallest things and the things a lot of people can take for granted, such as a bright sunny day or a simple compliment. Her parents also encouraged her naturally sunny disposition, allowing her to make friends easily and become quite popular at school and other social events. Her natural beauty also helped. When Neaera was 10 her father passed away due to health complications from a work-related accident. Her father's death taught her to never take life for granted and to appreciate every waking moment. Without her dad's extra income, Neaera and her mother were forced to move into a series of progressively more run down apartment complexes. It is due to these circumstances that a few months before she graduated high school, Neaera discovered that she now possessed a special connection to the Sun. Though she never would have guessed it, polluted water had granted her body the ability to harness and use radiation generated from the Sun itself. It took some serious getting used to. Not accidentally assuming the visage of an angry pagan sun goddess the moment your skin touches sunlight takes more finesse than one might guess. Though her powers took some getting used to, Nee did her best to use them for good causes (although more than once she has been duped into using them for petty revenge or something along those lines, but nothing more serious yet) and to explore them to their fullest potential. After witnessing the Saints stopping a robbery, Nee was inspired on the spot to join them. Convinced that gaining access would allow her to do even greater good than on her own, Nee is currently trying to figure out how to apply or try-out for the revered team. Carried Weapons/Items: None Superpowers: Neaera's powers manifest to their full extent in direct sunlight. While empowered by the Sun, she can fire bolts of explosive sunlight or fire beams of concentrated energy. In addition she gains the power of flight, which leaves trails of blazing sunlight in her path. As well as flight she gains increased strength and reflexes. Her durability does increase but not by a lot, making her somewhat of a glass cannon. In indirect sunlight she gains weaker versions of her powers (offensive abilities are less destructive and powerful, flight is slower, super strength is less super etc.) Out of sunlight she slowly loses her powers, although she can conserve them somewhat by exercising restraint. Eventually with enough time out of the sun she will lose her powers until she reconnects with the starlight of the Sun. Skills: She can pick things up with her feet if she really concentrates.
Name: Justin Harken Nicknames/Aliases: Guardian Age: 27 Gender: Male Allegiance: Patron Saints Written Description: Ask anyone what their first thought was upon seeing Justin and nine times out of ten the answer will be "big." At six and a half feet tall he and his muscles cut an imposing figure. It is somewhat offset however, by the huge smile that seems eternally plastered across his face. With a strong jaw and wide cheekbones that smile can be very big. Above them lies a pair of twinkling blue eyes that, along with his mane of blond hair, hints at a Nordic or Germanic ancestry. When not on duty at the station house or fighting evil in the streets Justin has a very everyman wardrobe. Lots of jeans and T-shirts, a few nicer clothes, some workout clothes. It depends on the day, really. Personality: Somewhat larger than life in a figurative as well as literal sense. He deeply believes in the mission of the Saints. A warm heart drives Justin forward in both his day job and his self appointed night job. While an iron clad moral code prevents him from straying from the path of the Guardian. He is friendly to all around him. Trying to get to know the members of his team better whenever he can and draw them closer together. There are some parts of being a vigilante that bother him however. For one he would much rather be working with the government to clean up the streets. The fact that many of the police force are little better than crooks themselves eats at him. Killing is also a complicated subject. Justin has taken enough lives already. He knows what doing so means. But he also realizes that sometimes it is unavoidable. Sometimes you can't talk the bad guy down. Sometimes you have to put him down. Backstory: Unsurprisingly Justin was not born in Independence City. Raised in the Pennsylvania countryside he was brought up in a family with a history of service. Military, police, EMTs and firefighters. The boy was taught about standing up for the weak and for what was right. Even when it was hard, especially when it was hard. As might have been expected he got into a lot of fights as a kid because of that. Although he never seemed to lack friends as a result of them. When he was eighteen Justin joined the Army. Two full four year tours. The first couple years were in noncombat postings at several US bases around the globe. The second two were active combat in the Middle East. He learned a lot in those two years. Killed his first person, lost friends for the first time. Justin finished his first tour changed but not broken. And when he signed up for another four years he also entered Ranger school. There was no third tour. Eight years in the military was enough for Justin. He wasn't planning on becoming a lifer so he got out. Of course he couldn't just become an office manager or something equally boring after all that. He still wanted to feel like he was part of something, something that was making a difference in the world. So the next step was obviously to become a fireman. For the past year the ex-Ranger has been part of the Independence City Fire Department. It was a busy time before he got superpowers. Now between his duties as a firefighter, Fire Marshal classes and being the Guardian he is finding downtime a rare commodity. Carried Weapons/Items: 9mm Glock, (rubber and lead rounds.) Six inch "pocket" knife and a small boot knife. Taser. Kevlar armor vest. Zipties. Paracord bracelet. Superpowers: Justin's ability is a simple one on the surface. He can overwrite, or perhaps reset, a piece of reality back to what he considers normal. Say someone got shot or had a limb hacked off. Most people don't consider that to be normal. So Justin uses his power, the person glows white and is suddenly all healed. It's not limited to people either. Places and things are also free game. There are costs and limits of course. The larger the target the more energy it takes to reset it. Also he can't wish ordinary human beings out of existence. Skills: Eight years in the army can teach a guy a few things. Especially on how to break people and their stuff. Justin is highly capable in a variety of methods on putting people on or in the ground. Give him a gun, knives or nothing at all and he can get it done. He also has a solid knowledge of explosives, mechanics and a passing knowledge of structural engineering. Both from his days needing to know to best way to destroy something and his days as a fireman needing to know how to prevent something from being destroyed. Extra:

You're both good. I'm going to work on an intro now. Like for real. You can still submit your thingies tho :)
