Melina enjoyed talking to Zander and the first year, about her school and educating them on the lore that her school was famous for. Which included the story of Melusina and Count Sigefroi. It seemed to interest a few others in the common room. Even if they were silent; they had enjoyed the story.
Count Sigefroi used to live in Körich, and one day he took a ride on his horse and got lost. He found himself on the place on which the city of Luxembourg stands nowadays, on the ruins of an ancient castellum. He looked over the lush green valley, when he suddenly heard the most beautiful voice sing a song. He listened closely and let his eyes follow the music; he then spotted a young maiden sitting amongst the ruins next to the river Alzette. It was Melusina. Upon seeing the knight, she pulled her green veil over her head and disappeared with the last sunrays. Sigefroi grew tired and fell asleep under a tree. The next morning, he followed the river and found his way back home - but he could never foret the maiden. He often returned to the valley, and soon Melusina began to like his company. They fell in love, and he asked her hand in marriage. She agreed, but she had two conditions: firstly, she asked not to be moved away from her living place, and secondly, she made him promise to leave her alone on Saturdays and never to ask or look what she was doing on that day. He promised, but he didn´t have enough money to build a new home for Melusina and himself, even after trading some of his own possessions with other Lords and wealthy members of the clergy. So he made a deal with the Devil, who promised to help in exchange for Sigefroi´s soul in thirty years´ time. Over night, a beautiful castle rose above the Alzette valley, and Sigefroi and Melusina could move in. They lived happily and had seven children. Now years after their wedding, Melusina was still holding up the tradition of locking herself in her room on Saturdays. Sigefroi had grown curious with the years passing, and so one Saturday he decided it was finally time to discover what his wife was hiding from him. He went to her room and was greeted by the sound of large quantities of water gurgling and splashing. He peaked through the keyhole and saw Melusina, sitting in the tub, combing her hair with a golden comb or brush, a fish tail instead of her legs. He screamed in surprise and disgust, and Melusina disappeared, forever taken from him, and her soul damned to never find peace. It is said that the castle´s wet nurse sometimes spotted a ghost-like female figure entering the childrens´ bedroom to comfort the youngest one when it was crying. There are multiple other stories telling about how to free Melusina´s soul, but no one succeeded so far. It is said that she appears every seven years as a mortal woman on the very same spot she disappeared. She can also be heard lamenting on this spot whenever the city is in danger. She turned into the city´s mythological keeper.
Melina nodded with a smile. "Yes, she's quite different than some muggles." It was quite rare, to find a Muggle who would be so accepting like her mother was. After they said their goodnights. Melina met her new roommates, the girls were around her age and they struck up a brief conversation before going to sleep that night. The next day, her first day of Lessons began. Her first lesson had been Care of Magical Creatures. There she had met quite a number of students, from the other houses. And Hagrid, the Game-Keeper and teacher for that lesson. The students studied the Phoenix. Dumbledore's own pet, Fawks was used an example. Melina found the creature interesting and beautiful. A lot of students, just like her admired the Phoenix. The rest of the half-day went surprising quickly with Ancient Runes and Divination. Most seemed to think that Professor Trelawney was bit loopy. But she found the woman and her predictions fascinating and interesting. Melina could tell the older woman was kind. Just took her own predication rather seriously, maybe a little too much...which seemed to put of some students. As some thought, it was supposed to be for good fun too. After her lesson ended. Melina walked out of the classroom. Her books in her hands. Chatting to a Gryffindor student. Melina smiled when she saw Zander waiting for her "Hey, how was your day so far?" she asked, as she walked over to him. She glanced over at the Gryffindor girl "I'll see you later." she said with a small wave towards one of her new friends. A few other students, stopped in their tracks. Surprised to see the new girl, already had the attention of Zander. A few murmurs broke out, that Melina had an escort already. Melina tried to ignore the whispers. But wondered what it was about. "How's your little sister doing?" she asked. Wondering if he had a chance to catch up with Ester yet.
