That's no trouble at all. Makes sense in hindsight, really. The fall of the Police Commissioner was definitely a key point in making 𝔗𝔥𝔢 ℭ𝔯𝔬𝔴𝔫 𝔎𝔦𝔩𝔩𝔢𝔯 who he is, so I'm hesitant to put any occult twist on it. If Ren were consciously aware that there was something going on that isn't just a scummy person getting away with it because he's rich/powerful, he probably never would've even considered becoming 𝔗𝔥𝔢 ℭ𝔯𝔬𝔴𝔫 𝔎𝔦𝔩𝔩𝔢𝔯. I'm thinking instead that maybe in his time working as a freelancer with the police to find 𝔗𝔥𝔢 ℭ𝔯𝔬𝔴𝔫 𝔎𝔦𝔩𝔩𝔢𝔯 (or, himself), they run across a copycat killer who is caught rather easily because he wants to be caught. Then the copycat killer, who has some occult ties, does something occult-y in a holding cell, which is reported by the police. How does that sound?
That actually sounds good. Try to have it a little more personal for Reginald, like instead of a holding cell, it's while Reginald and his partner are interrogating him/are going to interrogate him. Spits some weird nonsense about the Idiot God dreaming everything up or something before Reginald has to cap him because why the fuck can't I understand whatever language he's speaking, oh my god I have a nosebleed and so do you partner, oh goodness his cuffs are off.
