Despite her own testimony to the fact, her father got off scot-free. Well, as free as he could be. Thankfully, Heather got to live with her aunt and uncle far away from him, but it was always in the back of her mind. She wanted to put dirtbags like him away and make sure they stayed there. So she studied hard. Got high marks, got recommended for Harvard when she was a junior in high school. Applied and got accepted. Years of hard work, interning and starting at the low end of the totem pole, and she graduated with the highest marks possible. Recognized for her work, she got a decent job at a law firm in Massachusetts, where she set to work for two years before moving to New York. It was during her stint there that a friend got her an into the CIA. After the application process went through, she got offered what she never realized was her dream job. During a particularly gruesome case was when Heather got to know the dark truth of the world firsthand. The defendant was a man accused of killing his wife and three kids and painting what the officers described as "Satanic" images over the walls of the home in their blood. What made this her job was the fact it was a U.S. Senator. It seemed open and shut, but her partner and close friend, Alex Murphey, urged them to investigate closer. Despite the higher-ups telling them both to focus on getting him convicted, Peter dug deeper. Heather implored Peter to stop, but Peter couldn't. He told her it was something was calling out to him. Heather waved him off, but the next day, Peter didn't show up to work. Assuming he was sick, she took to court, only to find out during the trial that Peter was killed. The defendant was asked if he perpetrated the crime as the scene was similar to the one found in his home. An eerie smile plastered on his face before his eyes turned blood red. What followed was what could only be described as a massacre as some dark force tore up the courtroom, killing three jurors, five pedestrians, and the judge. Heather survived but was rushed to the hospital. Heather knew the truth, despite what the doctors told her and what was reported on the screen, that the defendant got loose and killed those people with a knife he smuggled in. Heather knew the truth, but her voice was silenced when one of her bosses came into the room and told her that if she valued her job and her life, she would forget it ever happened. A not so subtle threat. Determined the find out the truth herself, Heather didn't stop investigating. She tried to be subtle about it, but someone knew. Someone who slipped her a message and a phone. Determined to not let Peter's death or the lives of those people be swept under the rug, she took the opportunity presented to her. Heather has often been described as being too smart for her own good. Often the intellectual, she enjoys a good debate with differing opinions. She is determined if head-strong in her goals. She can come across as too intense, especially when you face off against her in a trial. She doesn't enjoy being put down due to her age or gender, preferring her skills and experience speak for themselves. She isn't afraid to tell you when you are wrong and will even go so far as to prove it to you. She can be a loyal ally or a painful thorn in your side. A good book, working out, mocha lattes, winter, proving men wrong Traffic, seafood, baseless opinions, unresolved issues, cats Heather doesn't talk about it often, but she still fears her father. She hasn't seen him for many years, but worries constantly about him returning. Despite the fact she is a grown woman, seeing him would set her off. She is driven by the fear of what happened in that courtroom. It's an unknown to her, which freaks her out. Nonphysical: Heather can be too demanding of herself. Business attire in dark colors, mostly black, either pants or a skirt, and modest heels or flats depending on her mood. Her hair is usually up as well. Weapons: Heather has a basic handgun with her during her more intense work, but if she is working in the courtroom she doesn't have it on her. Tools/Equipment: Heather carries her cell phone, her laptop, and her briefcase filled with whatever handy papers she needs. She has her CIA identification on her at all times.
God I hope this is ok. I don't know what attorneys for the CIA usually carry on their person.
Like I said before, I love Super-Lawyer. The only thing I was going to say in the PM before I decided that the daunting prospect of a PM about one's character from the GM wasn't necessary, was that the CIA does have an independent office of attorneys that handle the legal/illegal implications of the many various things the agency does. U.S. Senators aren't really covered under the jurisdiction of the the CIA's Office of the General Counsel. What the OGC is and covers under its jurisdiction is- "The CIA Office of General Counsel (OGC) is an independent office of the CIA that is headed by the General Counsel and assists the General Counsel in carrying out his statutory and other responsibilities. On behalf of the General Counsel, OGC provides legal advice and guidance to the Agency and to the Director of the CIA. OGC is responsible for advising the Director on all legal matters relating to his statutory responsibilities and his role as head of the CIA. OGC also provides advice and guidance to those officers and employees within the CIA who have specific responsibility for the conduct of US intelligence activities." "Among other things, OGC handles legal issues relating to foreign intelligence and counterintelligence activities, international terrorism, international narcotics trafficking, nonproliferation, personnel and security matters, contracting, finance and budget matters, legislation, and both civil and criminal litigation." - From the CIA's official website, relevant areas bolded and underlined. So, Heather's responsibility would be defending the agency and/or its individual officers and employees in Federal/Supreme Court and helping the General Counsel fulfill his responsibilities to the Director of the CIA in legal matters. From this, a couple things should be changed and it's who exactly Heather is going after/defending in court. Maybe she's defending and offering legal counsel to an officer of the CIA who saw some shit in Indonesia before he disappears. She goes digging and her bosses pretty much give her the same threat when she finds out what really happened to [CIA Officer] in Indonesia. And then Steve Foster makes her the same offer, because he knows as well as she does that there's more to the Indonesia case and the world at large. Just like I told Sax, it's your choice how you want to edit it to fit better with the character and their profession.
