Got to make this quick as I am still at work, but here is a soft retcon. There is an old auxiliary structure behind the record shop. Was supposed to be a sort of large fallout shelter or bunker in the fifties. It was converted in the late 80's to a venue that is capable to host local bands and/or small events. There is a sizable stage, seating area, fully stocked bar, and other such accoutrements.

This is my input on the situation, but I support any solution that corrects the flaws.
