He has a strong sense of compassion and even honor, and respect for those of the enemy who deserve respect. As someone who detests atrocities, he is not hesitant to condemn those of his own side who might lapse into abuse. Yet despite that, he has proven his loyalty and commitment to the United Earth Empire several times over, and considers his actions to be in the Empire's best interest. Thus, the news of peace talks is something that has excited a cautious optimism in him. "I am a patriot of the Empire, and I will always be. The Earth Empire has brought stability and order to the anarchy of space, and stability and order means progress and happiness. But true patriotism means accepting that one's nation needs improvement, that one's nation has flaws that can be fixed. I will fight against the Coalition till my dying breath or until peace is declared, but I will speak my mind against corruption in the body politic, and both are for the sake of my country." Military Record: Alexander was born to one of the Earth Empire's core territories, in Proycon itself. His family was aristocratic, high up in the Imperial hierarchy, but also ones who truly believed in noblesse oblige. And so from a young age, Alexander was trained to serve his people, and that said people were the ones that provided him with food, built his home, ensured that electricity was running, and that he was dependent on those lower than him, just as those lower than him depended on his family for leadership. Responsibility was drilled to him, as well as a sense of honor, and those stood him in good stead when he finally entered the military academy as a cadet. The Military Academy was filled with like-minded folk, patriotic and idealistic cadets who were even more starry-eyed than he was. It was a fine place, he made friends, and he got through basic training with only average difficulty. While some among his circle hated the enemy already, Alexander deliberately rejected such feelings, knowing they can cloud his judgement. He researched all he can about humanitarian missions, diplomacy, and the rules and regulations of war. However, his edge was not blunted; he was still capable of bringing death and dealing with it, as Alexander believed that 'the purpose of all war was ultimately peace'. When time came to be deployed into Contested Space, Alexander's eyes were quickly opened to the conditions there; extremes of poverty and wealth and suffering. This made him quick to volunteer for humanitarian missions, even though he knew in his heart that it would only relieve some of the misery. Not that he didn't see his share of regular combat; he knew that it was necessary to win more than ever, either by defeating the enemy (which seemed unlikely) or by forcing them to the negotiating table. So he fought like a good soldier and racked up kills as much as possible, but showed a different face outside of combat. He was the first to speak up for the rights of prisoners and civilians, the first to bring up others' safety, and the first to urge leniency once the battlefield was secured. While he knew the other side hated him and his folk, he refused to let that blacken his outlook; the other side was fighting for their cause, so let him fight for his'. He was known as a human and humane person, and eventually, despite his short years of service, gained the respect of the enemy. Note however that while his killcount was respectable, he was not an Ace. Nevertheless, a commanding officer gave him the callsign 'Angel', due to a combination of his kindness and being photogenic. And so, Alexander was the first to volunteer to join the diplomatic mission when word of it came out. At long last, there will be an opportunity for peace! Equipment:
A sword made up of super-tough, super-sharp metallic alloys that are as strong as spaceship armor, sharpened to a fine monomolecular edge.
Railgun Revolver - A revolver that runs on basic railgun principles. Though not Next-Generation*, Questing Knight stretches the limits of what existing systems are capable of, and does so with style, being able to hit hard, hit fast, and take a hit or two if struck. However, its main weakness is its hunger for power and the stress prolonged action puts on its systems; as a battle lengthens, the electronics of Questing Knight grow more unreliable, leading to system failures and overheating. *Unless permitted by the GM. Systems: 20 WT, 15 PWR Extra Systems: Tesla Drive (1 WT 6 PWR) - by equipping a MAS with a Tesla Drive, Light and Ultralight MAS's can fly faster, Medium MAS's can sustain flight, and Heavy MAS's are able to give themselves limited flight capacity. Note that all MAS's can "fly" in space, Tesla Drives are only necessary for in-atmospheric flight for Medium/Heavy MAS. Countermeasure System: - Countermeasure systems are often used by lighter MAS's to avoid missiles instead of using body mounted machine guns to intercept them. Using chaff and flares, countermeasure systems are negligible in terms of weight and power, but only has 5 chaff uses, and 7 sets of flares before needing to rearm. External Power Cores (5 WT, +10 PWR) - Used for extended missions or for power intensive weapons and systems, an External Power Core back obviously provides a MAS with extra energy. With the appearance of a large, ungainly backpack for a MAS, an external power pack links an extra dual core powerplant to the MAS. Weapons: Shieldbreaker (3 WT, 5 PWR Class B Hybrid EKP Weapon) - A light submachine gun capable of being carried in one hand, Shieldbreaker is a weapon meant to aid in the interception, quick incapacitation, and even the swift elimination of lighter targets. Plasma Sword (1 WT, 3 PWR) - A blade made of pure energy. Built-in Weapons: Burning Gaze (1 PWR) - In-built laser weapons in the MAS' eyes that can be used as a last-ditch weapon directed at spots in the mecha where the armor or shields have been removed. Armor: Optimized Alloy Plating (5 WT) - Combining the best of both worlds. A layer of extra compound armor over the MAS's arms, shoulders, legs, and cockpit. More durable than light plates, but lacking the protection of heavy plates. Anti-beam coating over the alloy plate allows it to survive a hit from a light plasma weapon or a glancing blow from heavier plasma weapons, and provides limited protection from explosives. Shields: Shield Class 4 (5 WT, 10 PWR) - A standard Shield generator, this shield provides defense against a small amount of MAS grade weapons fire, but will not stand up to concentrated fire, or direct hits from plasma weapons.
