Talents: Observation, driving, fire arms, basic first aid, and playing the sax. Fears: That he will fail at his job and the guilty will go free. Personality: Edwin is usually very easy going and doesn’t let too many things get to him, but when he crosses the yellow caution tape Easy-E is gone. He is replaced by a very focused and straight forward thinking detective. Edwin is not above making a wise crack or comment during a case though. This is his way of coping with what he has seen during his 15 years on the police force and the horrors of a current case. Edwin is driven to get a case solved but never at the expense of due process, nor at the expense of shutting out his partner or other avenues that could be considered “outside the box.” He says what he means and means what he says. Not very open in handing out compliments, but he recognizes the contributions of those help out on a case with either a nod or a “good.” Inner Personality: Edwin tries to treat each case as isolated moments in his life, but they stay with him and it is something Edwin struggles with. If a killer gets away or gets sprung on a technicality Edwin takes it very hard. While he for the most part is laid back and easy going Edwin is very closed mouth about his job when he is away from the office. The greatest pain in Edwin’s life is that he blames himself for the failure of his marriage to Anne and misses his two children Lindsey and Jane. He focuses in on his job so that he doesn’t have to deal with that pain. Secret (s): Edwin dealt with a homicide 7 years ago case that resulted in the death of his partner Lenny Montgomery a 20 year homicide detective. Though the investigation cleared him of any wrong doing Edwin knows he is responsible for what happened.
Edwin is dating a fellow officer Katherine “Katy” Gallado who works in the commissioner's office
Biography: Edwin was born and raised on the streets of Pittsburgh, Pa. He went to the University of Pittsburgh on a Football Scholarship, and if he applied himself he could’ve had a career in the NFL. Edwin’s heart though was in police work ever since he was a child he wanted to be a cop, so Edwin applied himself and went into the academy the day after graduation. Edwin displayed keen insights and natural gifts for being a great cop and graduated in the top of his class. The Pittsburgh PD was practically begging Edwin to join up and he did so without even thinking twice. It was a great time in Edwin’s life he had a job he always wanted, he got married, and Edwin became the father of twin girls. It seemed that it couldn’t have gotten better for Edwin, but it did when he became a homicide detective. He was paired up with a vet by the name of Lenny Montgomery, and it was like a dream team. They worked so well together it seemed like any case they were assigned it was solved in a matter of days not weeks. This wasn’t a case of Edwin just riding the coat-tails of the vet Edwin proved that he belonged among the ranks of the best in the division. Then there was that one night that rocked Edwin’s world. Edwin and Lenny were tracking a serial killer called Twilight through Pittsburgh. They finally cornered him in a warehouse and Lenny wanted to call for back-up, but Edwin’s ego got the better of him and he convinced Lenny that there wasn’t time. (In reality there was time, but Edwin wanted this one). Lenny agreed (reluctantly) that they should go in, and when they did Lenny was the first one through the door. Twilight was waiting for them and killed Lenny in the blink of an eye. Edwin killed Twilight and then there was the investigation and Edwin convinced the board that there wasn’t time to call for back up. The board believed him but Edwin deep inside knows that Lenny was right. The guilt eventually tore Edwin up and he sought professional counseling, but the toll was too much for his marriage and Anne divorced him. With the help of his therapist Edwin managed to work through his pain, and was determined not to let it happen again. Theme Song: Edwin is a Springsteen junkie, so his theme song is “Born to Run.” The song starts off strong and has a drive that never lets up. Much like Edwin won’t let up on an investigation and firmly believes that one day he too will walk in the sun. Other Likes: Working out, the music of Bruce Springsteen, the Steelers, riding his Harley, his dog Roxy, and wrapping up a case. Dislikes: Seeing injustice carried out, any music that isn’t Springsteen or in the similar vein, the Baltimore Ravens, reality TV, and mysteries.
